Apittslife
Old Chevy Trucks & Old Ford Trucks are popular with just about everyone, But Dodge / Fargo & Desoto Trucks are only popular with the People that already like / love them! I bought my "48 Dodge 5 window for $500.00 If it had been a Chevrolet or a Ford in the same condition, I wouldn't have been able to touch it for less then $4000.00. When I can say: " my truck is finished " I predict to have 12,000 - 15,000 invested in it, & that will not include my labor & I will NOT be able to sell the truck & re-coupe the money spent! Why? because it is a OLD Dodge.

pflaming
My Dad bought each of us boys (3) a car one year after high school graduation. Without my knowledge he bought me a Plymouth 'fast back'. The only consolation was it was black. To me it relagated me to an 'odd ball', not one of the 'boys'. I think that mentallity remains with the old cars. It's too bad, I can list a number of things that make the '50's mopar trucks a better vehical but that doesn't matter. It's all in the mindset. When the modern Dodge put that "Mack Truck" grill on, it changed the paradigm and is still popular as a result.
48Dodger
Old Chevy Trucks & Old Ford Trucks are popular with just about everyone, But Dodge / Fargo & Desoto Trucks are only popular with the People that already like / love them! I think that's kind of a myth. I have as much difficulty selling a Ford or Chevy truck as I do Dodges. ----------------------------------------- This is more of a "builders" forum.......guys wanna build a truck from a "blank canvas". I would think selling your truck on a drag racing site, land racing, and or muscle car site, you'd have better luck. Do a craigslist ad, link to your youtube video...but then in the text area, after the description, put in "key word: " and list every racing word and HP phrases that relates to your truck. List a phone number and ignore the emails as best you can. Cut and paste your whole craigslist ad and put it in the biggest paper in town that has a website as well. Here's one of my many craigslist ads that you can see how I word it and use keywords (very bottom of ad) to bring searches my way. http://sacramento.craigslist.org/pts/3421964285.html example of possible sell sites: landracing.com racingjunk.com classic autotrader 48D Edited November 28, 2012 by 48dodger
oldmopar
Yes it is a bad time of the yer to try to sell any truck or car most peoples spare cash is going to buy presents this time of the year. Problem with older mopars is not that the vehicles are unpopular but that spare parts are hard to come buy and sometimes you need to be creative and repair or cross reference existing parts for mopars but for fords or chevys just pick up a phone and order the parts you need. For example I have a 31 model a ford and can order most any parts with a phone call try that with a 31 dodge.

Bad idea Fernando . Forget about it. Unless you stuff the seats with uncut cocaine from Columbia no one is going to pay $17,000 for either vehicle in this global economy. And why do you want to be like every other Mexican north of the equator driving a 1958 Chevy Bel Air ? Now get back in your Pilothouse and go for a drive! Hank :D Hank, about cocaine I do not understand anything, thanks my god.My B3-B pilothouse came down on my hands in September 1987 without me even imagine nor expect, I had never seen one of these, did not know Dodge pick-up from year, only knew pick-ups Chevrolet in Brazil. Here few people have this culture of all types and years of Dodges for example as this site. Was there that I learned a lot about them, thanks to this site. Now remembered the story about duck and chicken. Thanks to all who have taught me and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY YEAR 2013. HanksB3B
Fernando, you know I'm just teasing you. Well that's good that you do not know anything about cocaine, Columbia and Cartels. Well if you sold your Dodge and bought a Chevy, we'd never hear from you again. You know as well as I do that old cars & trucks take a lot of work. I don't think you've ever posted pictures of your 1944 GMC. and a Merry Christmas to you as well, Hank
bach4660
too funny, firstly Hanksb3b hilarious, 51fargo maybe on this note you should stuff it full of bcbud, but now that Washington state has made this legal maybe the time has passed. But seriously,I sell for a living and 48dodger is correct it is as much about the right audience, DIY forums don't want finished projects. chopt50wgn
The timing is all wrong ........Christmas!!!........hopefully you can sell them in the new year. Everyone is right here as far as we being Mopar people. You will sell it because there is someone out there who is looking for exactly what you have,he/she just hasn't seen what you have yet. I was always razzed by my buddies cause I am a Mopar guy. I have told them that being a chevy guy is like seeing your kid sisters little friend, she's cute and she's there, but who cares. Plymouthy Adams
I have seen a number of cars at the last swap meet/car corrals..the asking price is a bit lower per the base economy..still they were not moving to new owners..the times are not what you call most stable and yet quite iffy awaiting for the proverbial other shoe to drop..unfortunately it is not a good market for sellers..I have seen some major moves downward between asking price to try to move an item and still have the deal not be completed..still got to look at this hobby just for what it is..a hobby...
