Brad Lustig Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Just learned something that blows my mind! I know the grandson of General Patton!!! His name is George Patton Waters (Goes by "Pat" so of course I never made any connection), his father was John K Waters son-in-law of General Patton, his mom was of course the daughter. He comes to my cruise-ins occasionally. Hopefully, he'll tell me some stories the next time I see him! Quote
Brad Lustig Posted May 10, 2007 Author Report Posted May 10, 2007 The funny part is he drives a Mercedes! No, it's not Hitler's. It's a '59 220SE. Just got a message back and he said he'd tell me some stories that he remembers at the next cruise-in. Too cool. Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Brad; If the language used in the stories is too off color to post e-mail them to me. Way cool! Users of descriptive adjectives such as General Patton, AJ Foyt, and other notable rebels are my heroes. Quote
James_Douglas Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Brad, A relative, cousin I think, of my mother was Gen. Patton's Adjutant in North Africa and early on in Italy. He got an ulcer and was shipped back to the states... James Quote
Brad Lustig Posted May 11, 2007 Author Report Posted May 11, 2007 I'd forgotten that Patton had died so young in '45. His grandson is probably in his late 60's so I'm not sure how much contact they had with each other since he was probably pretty young and , you know, with Patton saving the free world... Hopefully, he's got some good stories, though. I'm hoping for some off-color stories. Why do you think I'm so excited, Don? Quote
claybill Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 amazing who you meet in life. i met the great grandson of 'sitting bull', of little big horn fame. yes a sioux/lakota ! wonderful man. attended Yale univ!! Quote
1just4don Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 hope you do get some neat stories. I once went to a singles dance back in the early 90's. It was in a town about 80 miles or so from here. This lady from Omaha ,I think it was, claimed to be Larrence Welks Neice!! She was whispering in my ear,,but I resisted!! She was way country for me!! Said she went to Guitars and Caddilacs alot,,,that left me OUT!! Who knows if she really was,,,but I CAN beleive same, because he was from 'this' area!! And her close friend verified same. And she wanted me to 'sing' to her. Boy is SHE lucky I didnt!!! Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 I know of Patton through the movie and a bit of history...I just bought the other movie "The Last Days of Patton" this I have never seen, will wait for a rainy day and watch. I believe that his death was no accident and that it was a conspiracy. He was the "people's" hero and though he did not seek political fame..he was a major threat to those that did. IMHO Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 That's interesting Brad. I have another story no as interesting as yours though. My wife and I were married in 1989 (second marriage). Both of our fathers had already passed away before we met. My father was from Kentucky and my wife's from Wisconsin. However, they were both in Patton's army during WWII at the same time. Normally that wouldn't mean they might know each other because there were so many men in Patton's army. However, because they were both Mess Sergeants it is a good possibility they would have had contact with each other swapping supplies, etc. if nothing else. That would have been neat if they did, but we'll never know. Quote
Lou Earle Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 The biography of Patton - what the movie was based on is excellent reading- I shows the man , the myth, and his greatness. One of the best I have read. Lou Quote

You can track the units movement and time frames easily on the web. You might even be able to locate others who knew them through the American Legion or VFW. Quote
