knighthawk Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 due to my ignorance in metal framing proceedures, my new shop is not going to be as tall as I thought, so..... does some one make a lift that only goes up about 4 feet, enough to do jobs like brakes jobs ?.thanks Quote
wayfarer Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 Look around, there are plenty of scissor lifts. http://www.asedeals.com/scissor_lifts.html Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 yes..you can get a rack designed just for brakes or the ones often used with front end alignment..else, you can put manual stops on the lift of your choice and limit its range...anyone else here entertaining a building for a lift...I found 13 foot walls just right for flat ceiling roofs..can put my minivan to the top with clearance Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 Check out ther " MaxJax" 2 post lift. Raises about 4'. Quote
knighthawk Posted August 30, 2012 Author Report Posted August 30, 2012 thanks guys Well, Tim, I planned for 10 foot side walls, but when they started framing ( welded steel) , I noticed the sides were only 8 something, asked why, he said the height was to the top of the roof , loosing 18 inches....so......it's probabley just as well, cause a 4 foot lift will work Quote
knighthawk Posted August 31, 2012 Author Report Posted August 31, 2012 regarding this Maxlift that only raises 4 feet,,,,, I checked into it , and it seems when you unbolt it, to move it, say over by the wall, what happens with bolts left sticking out of the floor ? Does any one have one of these ? thanks Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 (edited) There are no Hilti bolts/ studs sticking out of the concrete like on regular lifts. You use female drop in anchors with the Maxjax. They are permanently installed in the concrete and you thread the mounting bolts into them if you want to move the lift columms and then reinstall them. Check out the garage journal- http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/ and search Maxjax or anything on lifts. Tons of info there. Bob Edited August 31, 2012 by Dodgeb4ya Quote
1flipdog Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 Any chance you can vault ceiling. I know several people that have done that. Quote
Young Ed Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 (edited) Vaulted ceiling is a good suggestion. And personally I'd be pretty ticked at my builder for assuming I knew 10 ft was the outside dimension and not the interior height. Edited August 31, 2012 by Young Ed Quote
knighthawk Posted August 31, 2012 Author Report Posted August 31, 2012 thanks guys and yes I am 'ticked' Quote
