Ahhh.....I see that. Looked it up. Sept 19-22 at the Embassy Suites

Airport, Kansas City, MO. Just might be able to make that. Hopefully

the car will be done by then.

Was at Dale's house in K C today for a short while. He's been working

on a couple little places on the hood. His body work time is more limited

now as he went back to work.....at an O'Reilly store.

Will try to show up, even if no car.

It's on our schedule. Only about a 2 1/2 hour drive for us.

My plans, right now, are to show up Thursday night after work for some tailgating and then participate in the Friday and Saturday driving tours. Not much interest on my end in sitting through a membership meeting or banquet ($40/plate seems a little steep) on Saturday after noon, but I could be convinced to stick around for more tyre-kicking and lies before heading on back to Topeka.

Maybe it's because I am partial to my own BBQ, and work for one of the country's largest producers of mashed potatoes, potato salad, cole slaw, and baked beans (as well as a KC BBQ Series sponsor) but $23/plate seems a little steep for BBQ, esp. when the BBQ supplier isn't identified (Gates, Masterpiece, Arthur Bryant's, etc...).

Speaking of BBQ and the KC BBQ Series, American Royal is October 4-7 this year...

Keep in mind that part of the price of the meals includes some fluff to offset host club expenses or to pad their treasury. Also may be paying for hosting items at the hotel like a hospitality suite, copying, etc.

I always bristle at rubber chicken meal rates, and don't have much patience for the dog and pony show that usually comprise the proceedings, but sometines they are endurable if the other company is tolerable (as is usually the case with mopar folks).

Kind of like how auto repair shops charge $100/hr labour, but pay their mechanics $25/hr, and then charge 2x retail for parts that they bought for about half retail cost?

Just because "every body's doin' it" doesn't make it right. They're already charging $25/head for registration. Reminds me of automotive literature auctions on eBay that have a starting bid of $1, but then charge $25 shipping. Rubs me the wrong way. I just won't buy their food or join their local club.

It'll still be a great opportunity to see some people, and their cars, that I have only conversed with via computer, and I am looking forward to the Arrowhead Stadium tour. I will have to remember to wear a Duane Bowe jersey that day. Would it be bad form to wear my Daunte Culpepper #11 Vikings jersey?

I've been dreading this post for months. I was hoping that all would be good by now, but I will not be attending the POC event in a few weeks. I lost my job back in June, and still continue to be unemployed. I have been applying all over the States. I've had several phone interviews and a few face to face interviews, but no job offers. While I have plenty of time, I can't justify the expense that participating would entail.

Did anyone make the meet?

Nope. Planned on it, but that’s a whole other story. So we canceled and decided to save the money.

We are leaving in a week for a European trip for two weeks. We’re going to go to London, Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Zurich, and someplace called Interlaken in Switzerland.

You see, way back in Dec. 69, when Nixon started the draft lottery, I was number one! Yup, I won the lottery! In mid-January of 1970, I was doing pushups in Fort Leonard Wood, MO.

Long story short, came home on leave in July, and got married, and shipped off to Germany. Wife joined me in September, daughter was born in June the next year. We always talked about going back.

Last fall, we got a call from our friends from Oregon that we were stationed over there with. They were thinking about going back, and thought it would be fun to go with us. So the whole thing was set in motion. Some of the places were our picks (wife wanted to go to London), and some were there picks (Interlaken). Anyway, we’re all set, and really excited. Lee

Nope.....me no make it either.

Due to music gigs, and the car isn't done yet either.

Was just going to go and look at cars, but just couldn't

get there.

There is no report of the event on the POC board either, but that is hardly unusual. Mark A had invited my wife and I to come down to ST L, and drive his 49 Bus Coupe to the event along with him in his P15. We were looking forward to making the trip but he had some business commitments come up that foiled our plans. Did a quick search of anything that may have been published in local news outlets and found 0.
