It is in a small garden that was located behind my grandmothers house. The house was dissassembled in the late 60's, and the property went into a dormant state. So this little patch of asparagus (about 12 plants) has carried on. Reseeding itself and maintaining withot erference since then. I still have the property and just keep the grass under control. There is also a patch of Rhubarb also untended for those same years.

Thanks Phil — it was a great adventure and a testament to just how fun and reliable these cars can be as stock originals. Speaking of original cars, your 54 Plymouth looks perfect — I wouldn't be in any hurry to paint it up and lose all that irreplaceable charm.

Here are a few more photos from the road to and from Tuk last month (re photo 1 — while we do have the Tim Adams Original Washer on the car, sometimes the muck was so thick we had to call in the big guns).

Andy...am sure Greg is referring to wild asparagus that is often found along the roadside of the highways free for the taking..here is Georgia I am living in an area that was once a very large producer of asparagus and finding this stuff wild is not umcommon..I pass large stands of it to and from work..I will grab some for the wife to cook for herself and will partake of a few raw sections but never will I eat it cooked..I transplanted some of this stuff to my yard and never had much luck growing it..

would it have been possible to do the trip with out the snow tires?

Possibly.

We never encountered any particularly deep stuff, but the Firestone 600x16 summer tires we had on before were marginal in snow— there would have been some slipping and sliding and maybe a tow out of the ditch.

Chris, glad you and Jerry are home safe and sound and thanks again so much for sharing "Chris and Jerry's Excellant Adventure" in both words and photos

Did you ever get a hard copy of the newpaper in Inuvik about your visit?

Thanks again,

Bob

Neither hard nor soft yet. I was in touch with the reporter last week and apparently she submits photos and stories to the editor who decides what runs and when. There were other more important stories that week (Really?? what on earth could they be!?!?!?) and she thought it might be a week or two before the Dodge story ran. I figure the longer it waits the less likely it will be used.

that would be sad if they did not run it...but what would be fun to us to read is old hat to them maybe..most papers run stories like these as filler items on slow news days..maybe you should have talked this over dinner...hint hint

..Maybe not enough drama..Submitting a photo of Jerry thoroughly pi$$ed off looking at the ranasacked roof top carrier, (holding a camping hatchet would have been good), along with a vow to catch the culprits that stole your gasoline and avenge the theft, etc.
