R66Dodge Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 Hi, I'm new to this board and was hoping you could help me locate a kit or company (that's still in business) that makes a modern disc brake kit for my newly acquired "project car". Any help or tips would be great. Thanks! Quote
Chester Brzostowski Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 Just search this board for "DISC BRAKE CONVERSION" and you should see a number of posts. Also there are two post running right now. Quote
rockable Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 Contact Charlie at www.rustyhope.com. He is on this board as OldDaddy. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 I second Olddaddy..he is one of us..products are great..instuctions are good..service after the sale beyond compare..If anyone has ever had a prob it has been for lack of talking to Charlie..that I can assure you.. Quote
190bearplace Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 I got my disc brakes from Rustyhope and my dual master cylinder setup from ECI. Both quality products with knowlegable people Quote
faucet47custom Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 If you search, Oldaddy's kit on a D24, I put it on with all of the other hardware and I have pictures. It was really easy to do and it took me about an hour and a half total. Just to show how good Charlie is about his products, I bought my kit second hand. I had some questions and he was extremely helpful and he even used the original spindles off of my car to make the kit specifically for the D24. Top guy to deal with and if I ever need a kit for a future mopar car, it would be from him. Quote
R66Dodge Posted March 2, 2012 Author Report Posted March 2, 2012 WOW! Thanks for the lead. Looks like I will be getting this kit. Any ideas on a shock relocation kit? Quote
old rat 49 Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 Ditto. Mine stops like a champ. And while you are at it I highly reccomend the F-1 shock mount relocation. Quote
R66Dodge Posted March 2, 2012 Author Report Posted March 2, 2012 Ditto. Mine stops like a champ. And while you are at it I highly reccomend the F-1 shock mount relocation. I may sound stupid asking , but whats an F-1 Relocation Kit and who makes it? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 The F-1 shock mount is in reference to the old Ford truck of the late 40's ear 50's era with a bolt on shouck strut that will bolt to your frame. The Dodge trucks of the era are very much uselable also..just usually harder to come by as the Fords get clipped quite frequently.. Quote
old rat 49 Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 Just do a search for F1. It allows the shock to have full dampening action as opposed to the partial movement that Plymouth had designed. It does make ride feel better. Quote
wayfarer Posted March 3, 2012 Report Posted March 3, 2012 There are some similar designed mounts for a 49 Dodge truck on ebay right now with a BIN of $25 Quote
