Hello everyone.

I would like to ask someone who speaks with authority if a 1946-48 P15 4-door uses the same size body shell as a 1946 D24 or C38 4-door? I am certainly aware that there are differences, but is the basic shell the same size? Some acquaintances of mine claim that the P15 uses a smaller shell than the others but that seems very unlikely to me. If there is already a thread on this subject, please tell me how I can use to find it. I tried the search but it seemed a daunting task.

Thanks,

The P15 is a smaller body shell-no interchange with the Dodge, DeSoto or C38/9 Chrysler body shells.

The easiest answer is that the plymouth wheelbase is 117 inches, and the larger cars are 119 and longer. most of that is forward of the cowl. What are you tryig to accomplish?

I have no plan of interchanging any parts between makes. I just want to know the facts regarding the physical size of the Plymouth cabin vs the others. Is the interior of the Plymouth smaller in height or width than the Dodge, Desoto or Chrysler? Can the windshield glass, rear doors, rear window or trunk lids be interchanged? What about the front or rear seat? Up to now, I have always assumed that they could be swapped with Dodge, Desoto and Chrysler. Please advise. I currently own a 47 Chrysler.

The answer you are looking for is,,,, no. The Plymouth body is dimensionally smaller than all other Chrysler products. Therefor, no interior or exterior body parts will interchange with the Plymouth body. Except a Canadian built Dodge D-25, which is a P-15 body.

Didn't we answer this once before?

Right Ed, I missed that for sure.

I think what Matador wants to know, after reading my slightly smartass answer, is about the interior dimensions. So, what I should have said is, the interior is narrower than a Dodge, DeSoto, or Plymouth. It's also shorter, but headroom is enough for anyone and their hat. The seats are considerably smaller, but the back seat is still big enough for anything or anyone you may need to carry. Or other stuff.

I would like to thank everyone here on P25-D24 who answered my questions about the size of the P15. I am now satisfied with the answer that the P15 is indeed smaller than the other Mopars.

Thanks again,

Aside from the aforementioned rear window, all the Chrysler products

of 46-48 used the same trunk handle. So, that should interchange.
