Rather Shocked at Closed Andy B. Thread

I was taken aback by that last posting on the now closed Andy B. thread. I cannot recall that type of posting in the time I've been on here. I'm glad the thread was closed and wonder if anything else will be done about it.

It was an uncalled for posting. Bad choice by the poster.

Same here. I was shocked the Mods left the post. Should be deleted. Roger.

Gents,

Stepping out of character for just a moment please allow me to play the devil's advocate on this issue:

I dealt with Mr. B on a few occasions back in the early 90s when I first got Pigiron and he was the only source for parts, but the parts he had available at the time to which I had access consisted mostly of reproduction rubber and since that was way down my list of priorities I've kept his name in my bookmarks but didn't much use his services. When I found this forum about seven years ago I learned of other vendors and have amused myself with speculation as to if they were jumping on a band-wagon that had already gotten rolling or if they were new suppliers testing the waters of an unknown market with their toes. It doesn't really matter as the definition of an "entrepreneur" is "he who takes a chance" and my hat is off to all of them for putting their mouths where there money is, or vice-versa. The thing is, Mr. B took the chance years ago and was the first I ever saw and he made it work well enough to sustain it, and for that he should be thanked immensely. He opened doors that had not existed prior to his coming, and, whether we chose to use his services in later years or not, our cars would not be in the condition they are in had it not been for Mr. B and the few who may have come before him. He became embroiled in his passion.

We all have passions in which we immerse ourselves, be they our old iron or sports statistics, but we also all must recognize when to step away from them. I should have stepped away from my profession eight or ten years before I did, before I burned-out on strangers making excuses for their own mistakes and blaming them on me, but I didn't because what I did had become a passion. Maybe Mr. B. should have done that too, or maybe not, but it's all speculation so it doesn't matter.

I'm glad GTK didn't delete the final post because otherwise I wouldn't have known what had been written (I was out of town all day) and might have missed some juicy gossip. It also would have been censorship and I see censorship as an excuse for an uninformed public, which is an excuse for blaming somebody other than my self for my own mistakes.

So thanks to Andy, and thanks to the guy in NSW who sells plastic replicas and the guy in the States who figured how to adapt disk brakes to our cars because you'll doubtfully ever get rich from it but you embraced your passion and took the chance. Without you our lives would be less.

A little research shows that this has been a reoccuring theme from this forum member. This member who so "eloquently" stated his opinion, seems to have a limited scope of contribution to the community. A quick glance at his posting history is thematic, yet one dimensional at the same time.

If the link doesnt work just click on the members name and read "Find all posts by RALPHDEI".

The last poster is a troll, he contributes nothing to the forum yet feels he needs to show his single digit IQ by starting crap. i would have deleted his post and banned him.

I have been on this site and the old one for 15 years. I'm a retired USN Chief (26 years) starting in 1966. I ran A public housing maint dept and delt with 100's of vendors bought everything from a zerk fitting to a back hoe. Never did I run into a bigger A hole. Because of Andy Bernbum I street rodded a 47 buss cp I orderdes $350 worth of window rubber that didn't fit correctly and he wouldn't make good on it. I said to my self I'm not doing this and ripped all the mechanicals out of it and went to chevy. That was 12 years ago. The Steel rubber fit perfect. Any of you panty wearing cry babies have a problem drop me a line.
