Dan Hiebert Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 Dan the snow shouldn't hurt the d24 short term. Just gotta resist that urge to drive. Sometimes I'm glad mine are put away in a manner that I can't drive them no matter what. Of course it'd be nice to have a spot to work on projects during the winter. Oh and I can't wait to see that falcon! Just being a tad OCD-ish. I'm not too worried about it. After all, cars are made to be outdoors, I just cringed a bit because I've made it a habit to keep it out of the weather the past 16 years or so. I didn't get to finish painting the Falcon, ran out of primer. I was originally just going to do an "Earl Scheib" number but decided to remove all the trim and body parts so I could paint the door jambs, inner fenders, etc. and didn't buy enough primer to do that. So I packed everything up for the Holidays and will re-attack it in a couple weeks. But here's a couple teasers - and everyone gets a peek at my garage, too . Quote
Young Ed Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 Looks like great progress! I like the car and the garage! Send me one or two of each for Christmas please...... Quote

Dan Hiebert Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 Thanks! I guess this qualifies as hijacking a thread. I feel so....dirty But I'll maintain that I'm still talking about the weather and what we're doing with our cars when Old Man Winter creeps up. Ach - can't resist, one more comment on the Falcon - my daughter called it the green ghost because it was blue-green. She and my wife insisted it was blue, I insisted it was green, so they deferred to me and called it the green ghost because only I could see the green (although I've never seen a ghost). Female minds. Anyway, now they insist we change the name to Kermit. I'm staying out of this one..... Quote
greg g Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 Your females must be related to mine. My 60 Dodge was Willow green, my wife said it was blue, my 94 Accord was sage Green, my wife na daughter always maintained it was blue. To further complicate things, I painted my utility trailer grey, and they both insist it's blue. So both the facon and your d 24 (looks good by the way so does the falcon) would be blue. Or the possibility certainly exists they we are just wrong... Quote
1940plymouth Posted January 31, 2012 Author Report Posted January 31, 2012 Cooper and I gave into temptation this afternoon, put approx 25 miles on the Plymouth, Lots of sunshine, temp in the upper 40's, so we just had to go for a ride. The car is filthy on the outside, I did wipe off what I could reach, but wasn't able to get all the roof, Hope everyone is having as good a day as Cooper and I are:) Dan, How is that Falcon coming along? The Falcon is progressing, had to go out of town for work for a bit, but finished-off the paint last weekend - had to fix a couple runs and re-paint the roof due to an attack by dust pixies. I've had to piece-meal the paint job just because I don't have enough room in the garage to spread all the parts out, but this unseasonably warm winter is helping out quite a bit. It was 52 here yesterday! Now I'm gradually putting it back together, ordering bits and pieces as funds permit, but should still have it back together, maybe even running , by spring. Quote

You get a brake from the cold and gray, a little snow on the side of dry roads, bright sunshine and a ride in your special car. It's a reminder that no matter how cold and dank Winter can be,....it will be sunny again,.... and all is well. Quote
greg g Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 Strange days indeed (at least weather wise) here in the former snow capital of the Northeast, we have green lawn and it's 55 degrees. The local AM news did a feature on a local maple syrup maker who spent yesterday taping his trees. Still to much salt onthe roads to get the Plymouth out. On Tuesday a small city north of us got 32 inches of snow, we got about 3". Most of 32 melted yeasterday, except of course where they piled it while digging out. I saw a flock of geese flying north, and a local person submitted a picture of a bluebird that was flitting around their back yard, to the local TV news as picture of the day. Quote
