ggdad1951 Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 so, I think I've found an interior rear view mirror.....anyone have a center bar they could take pictures of and dimensions of so at some point I can see if I can modify one someday to install the mirror? Quote
B1B Keven Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 The hole is 3 1/2" down from the spot where the arm starts the curve ( I hope you can understand that ). Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 (edited) As seen here before... A factory original stamped 1948 Dodge 2-1/2 truck inside mirror division bar, and a NOS plain division bar. Mirror position is 6-1/2" down from the top. I have 2 of these genuine mirror division bars on my trucks. They are one the hardest factory accessories to see on a 1948-53 Dodge dodge truck. Edited December 10, 2011 by Dodgeb4ya Quote

Desotodav Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 I took my digital caliper measurements for you from the existing bar mounting holes Mark. The mirror mount hole in my truck centre bar is 3.348" down from the top mounting hole and 2.192" up from the second hole down in the centre bar. I used an original centre bar in my truck - it has a slightly recessed area where the mirror mounting arm secures to it with a square nut affixed to the centre bar at the back. Desotodav Quote

Dodgeb4ya Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 Some where around here-my memory is slipping. I thought I had a case of 12 of these NOS mirror division bars and 3 or 4 aluminum dual heater valves, oh and a NOS 610T radio. I better look for this stuff before my days are done!!! Quote
smallblockjunkie Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 is this for a half ton or a bigger truck because this is what was in my half ton Quote
VintageMoParts Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 (edited) I'd love a chrome division bars to hold my mirror. Been thinking of just drilling a hole in mine, probably a bad idea.. Any ideas what this one would go to? It's got me stumpped Edited December 15, 2011 by VintageMoParts Quote
Young Ed Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 Looks like a 39-47 truck. Maybe earlier trucks too. I might be interested. Quote

TheMoose Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 I thought I'd scored an interior mirror but while it fits over the trim great the holes are not far enough apart to line up. I may go ahead and drill the extra hole in the trim, I think it'll look good. Quote
ggdad1951 Posted December 14, 2011 Author Report Posted December 14, 2011 just so you know that is a car hood ornament in the picture....I'm gonna have to wait to find the right bar before I mount my mirror...which might be a LOGN time if ever! Quote

The hood ornament has the correct end on it where the one on my truck now has a tab at the rear for another trim piece it'll work until I find the correct truck hood ornament. Picked it up at a local pawn shop for $40 so it's closer to right than the one that was on there. Edited December 14, 2011 by TheMoose Quote
ggdad1951 Posted December 14, 2011 Author Report Posted December 14, 2011 I actually have one of those as well, but I'm gonna use it for a handle on a bed storage box for my truck Quote

Probably everyone will be happy if you just use the 1948-50 correct optional hood ornament for the 1951-3 B3 and B4 trucks. I will always like and use the 1953 "Horney" 1953 Dodge car ornament for my 1951-53 trucks-it's really a cool hood ornament! Edited December 15, 2011 by Dodgeb4ya Quote
Young Ed Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 As a followup this part # is listed for 41-47 dodge trucks. It will be on its way to my house shortly I'd love a chrome division bars to hold my mirror. Been thinking of just drilling a hole in mine, probably a bad idea..Any ideas what this one would go to?
