Their was a thread on the hamb about 8000 dollar paint jobs and how the guy thought it was outrageous till he did his car now he thinks it is ok. a lot of work that people don't realize goes into a nice job and how many times you have to do the same thing time and time again till it is perfect. and when that one spot gives you trouble it don't help matters any. keep up the good work!

Thanks guys----Dez---it`s starting to look like a California car:D--intentions are to get the car in primer then out to his shop--block this last coat--shoot one more coat of primer---block that---then base coat-block-clear-block-buff. Then bring her home for all the rest. The "Kid" will do the doors--hood--fenders at work. All the wrench work will be done at my shop.

The project looks real good! I did a 63 nova II wagon when I was in the navy in 84. Picked it up in L.A. It had one rust out in the spare tire comp and no dents bought for $250. It turned out real nice painted it a metalic dark gray.

Ya I am lucky in this department---with the kid working at a body shop---getting materials reasonable and getting to use the paint booth when it`s ready for final color---the shop is owned by his cousin and some stuff is gratis. The paint supplier was very good to him when I needed the paint for the Windsor. If I had to pay for a paint job out right---I couldn`t afford it. You gotta learn how to do this stuff to save the bucks.......thanks again..............Lee

Last Thursday we got started on the pass. side. I thought we would be a couple of weeks till mud. This panel is much better---after a couple of hours the Dura-Glas went on. Way ahead on this side---could be the main body will be in primer by June. If I get the rear end all in place the main body could be in color by July----yahooo.

We decided to wait two weeks this time---the work to be done was small, so things didn`t look much different. The "Kid" was tuning the little stuff to his liking. Some small sanding on some glazed areas and ready for primer. Want to get it done---the humidity starting to climb and it`s a bear painting in the garage when it`s sticky.............here is what we got.............Lee

How'd I miss this thread...hey, I'm just happy to see you put the back roof in the right spot, going by the placement in the 1st 3 pics you had it all wrong!{pic3}....not on the hood!:D

She did look all sorts of solid when I was there....never asked, what color{s} do we plan on?

The "Kid" changes his mind every week---when it gets close to finish---wait and see. I thought of a burnt orange with a cream top--------his car his call---my money LOL:D:D:D

Did some trail fitting on the tailgate---all is figured out and some bending and tweeking on one hinge so it tucks in closer when you close the gate. Will leave it on till I finish the rest of the interior for primer. The "Kid" is doing the doors at his shop---zeroing in on color---maybe before the snow flies. Darn left knee is giving me trouble and may need some work too. Had a MRI on it today---see what the Doc will say in a couple of days. Fix the tear---still have Arthur-I-tis--shoot ya full of chicken juice---keep movin on!

It has been really hot up here--in the 100`s---garage time has been limited some what. Did manage to weld in the strip to hold the rubber seal for the lower part of the tailgate and a few pics of some Bill Hirsch rust paint on the underside. Working on two cars at the same time---don`t tell the "Kid" but I would rather finish up the interior on LuLu right now---to many irons in the fire---hope to keep a balance as the "Kid" is hot to get his in paint by winter........Lee

Rear disc brakes: Is welding on that bracket the only way to put disc brakes on the rear? Even so, very simple. I learned something again.

Great project, fantastic workmanship, 'tip 'o the hat' to you. :)

You need the bracket to hang the caliper on---all these kits do need some tweeking to make them work. This on needed to have 3/8" taken from the bracket radius so the caliper sat farther down on the rotor---the piston on the caliper needed a spacer so it would work and the face of the spacer needed 65 thou taken off---look at the pics----small things my race buddy noticed---he fixed all that before he welded up the housing. He has the jig for the housing and a tig welder---I didn`t want to take a chance on any warpage---for the little it cost me---let the pro do it. Thanks for kudos...Lee

Latest---the "Kid" is doing the final blocking on the car to ready for final color---installed a larger guide bolt on the springs to match the hole on the perch--the smaller bolt just seemed small ---5/16 to 1/2---bigger is better and got the hubs back with the metric pattern for the wheels

Did manage to get some more paint on the underside---oh ya I cracked a couple of ribs from a fall at work:(---along with the knee surgery getting down has been a bit of a challange. So have decided to work topside for awhile---got some Bill Hirsch rust paint down after the removing the old seam sealer on the pass side---some progress is better than none:D......just a reminder pic of how far this wreck has come:eek:......Lee
