Mark D Posted October 25, 2011 Report Posted October 25, 2011 Been meaning to give this video posting a try. Went over and tinkered with the carb tonight and took a short video, seems to be running a little better, but still not happy with the strutter I'm hearing. You can hear it best as I walk around the back of the car. PS, throttle was pulled out slightly as she was still warming up. Quote
1940plymouth Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Awesome car Mark! That it is, but it is even nicer in person:) Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Good video.......car looks fine. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Hi Mark, I don't know why but your car stands out. I think the color is special and I did not know the hood ornament lit up:) It looks like my idea of a touring car. The skirts are the finishing touch. The P-15 is a great model. Bob and I have 1940 p-9 cars which are a little different. I told Don that the post war cars are more sturdy I think. I have a 1952 motor in mine and it can do the speed limit however when you see Greg's car on the video it clearly has good highway power. I look forward to seeing your car in person. Quote
Mark D Posted October 26, 2011 Author Report Posted October 26, 2011 Yeah, I lucked out finding this old gal. I was originally looking for a '41 coupe, but came across this one day last winter on craigslist and had to have a look. I got the car in Providence RI, but supposedly it was originally sold in Mass. Unfortuneately I dont have much history on the car and plan to do some more forensics this winter, starting with the $40 request to Chyrsler. The prior owner (since 1994) wasn't much help when he sold it to me. He nearly cried the day I drove it away (I understand this now) and wasn't in the mood for talking... just wanted me gone asap, and I was in the mood to oblige, I didn't want him to change his mind. However, there is an old car club sticker in the window (Baystate Street Machines) that appears to be pre-1990. I'll going to try to track down someone in that club via hemmings club listings and see if someone might know the original owner or at least get me closer to its origins. This winters goals are new brake pads all around, replace flexible brake lines and reinspect all steel brake lines, replace tie-rod joints, replace rear main seal, replace cracked passengers side windshield. IF all of that gets done, I'll be looking for a dual carb intake and a split manifold setup (so I can keep up with Greg the next time we meet). Future plans include an overdrive install, bodywork and a respray, and possibly even some new SMS upholstery. As for the '41 business coupe I was looking for, well it's still on my radar but will have to wait until I get more garage! For now I stay away from Craigslist for fear one will appear... . Quote
greg g Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Just like mine Ed, where did you find it? Quote
Young Ed Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Just like mine Ed, where did you find it? Ebay years ago listed as a Model A part. Does yours have the section on the bottom to bolt to the factory heat riser section of the exhaust manifold? Quote
greg g Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 yes but i did not attach them, I fabricated a stainless plate and attached it then ground down the bolt heads for clearance. I also have my heat riser welded in the horizontal position. Quote
Mark D Posted October 26, 2011 Author Report Posted October 26, 2011 Thanks for the tease Ed... I'll gladly take that off your hands since you don't seem to be using it. Quote
Mark D Posted October 26, 2011 Author Report Posted October 26, 2011 WOW, only a couple screws left and that will be roadworthy! Quote
