Hey Gents,

I'm in the midst of stripping the 47 Fargo I purchased a month or so back and just wondering if there is any point in keeping the seized 228, and the 4 speed with PTO? I really don't have much use for them and hate to throw them outside to rust away anyway...anyone know if there is a market for these parts, or probably better off in scrap heaven? I'm stripping everything else I can salvage like running boards, front grill assembly, interior (what's left) etc.... but the rest is bound for the wrecker..and if I don't have to pull the motor and trans..even better..

I'm in Canada, and honestly not a lot of guys fixing the old Dodges up here like down south...lot more ford and chevy boys, which is fun at car shows when you have the only dodge truck...but tough for finding parts buyers

Thanks

Some one might want that 4 speed and or the PTO- those are kinda hard to find-especially 2 way PTO's. I'm glad I saved all the ones I did from trucks I parted out. Put em all to use at one time or another.

I have to agree with you. The majority of people restoring dodge trucks are down south. I am in Edmonton Alberta and I am restoring and 53 dodge with a few upgrades and I think I one of very few. Keep in there. It should be worth it when done

personally if the 4speed is in good shape, save it, find a place for it, you never know. But then again, I'm the guy that has saved about every part that I've replaced on my truck for "just in case" (except I tossed my shocks).

Well after a few days of fighting with every nut and bolt i decided today to forget taking the power train out, as the motor is seized and after popping the head off its very very rusty inside. I got a decent amount of parts off and for the 250 I paid for it I should get my money back in parts and get a bit for the scrap, and hopefully help a few other members with needed parts.

So if anyone needs any if the following from a 47 1 ton Fargo just let me know:

Headlight buckets (one has some small rust holes where it touches the fender) , the 2 side marker lights no glass but chrome rings are there, radiator seems good, it was full when I took it out and the coolant didn't come out too dirty, 2 heater core/fan boxes, windshield frame and the gear box that opens it, carb, distb with vac advance, fuel tank(seems good needs a dipping and maybe some old patches checked, running boards and the frame mounts

There are a few other odds and ends but I plan Friday to haul the frame in for scrap so if I missed something let me know

When you say frame mounts those for the running boards? If not those are worth grabbing. Um the defroster hookups are worth taking if there. People seem to be always looking for seat springs. I gotta think shipping on the radiator or gastank to MN would be a killer.

If you were willing to meet in Fargo I will likely be doing a trip there in November or so... If not we may go to the Waconia sled show in January but that's slim because work usually messes that one up

And yes the frame mounts to the boards.. Took a hour with the air chisel but I got them

I don't think I can commit to anything in that time frame. Wifes due mid December I don't think I'd ever hear the end of it if I was out buying old car parts.

ok, this is an odd idea, if you are heading to Fargo, could you ship rims from there instead of Canada? Or just might have to bite the bullet and look hard to find the time to meet up with you threre......

Isn't Dale Uhrich near Fargo? I know he's in ND but I don't remember exactly where. Maybe you can talk him into holding some parts until one of you can make the road trip out there to retreive them.

Honestly it's tricky enough taking parts across that you intend to sell...if I purchased parts in the US and brought them back that's fine, but taking them down to sell they say is a no no, as we wanted to take some items down once for a vintage sled swap meet and they said we couldn't....I would have given it a shot with the rad and the tank maybe...but with a box full of parts I don't think I would be getting across....at least not without a pile of BS paperwork I'm sure..

I'm on the road for work for a couple days, but I will see about those rims thursday, as my dad borrowed my saw and I can't get it back till then.

Thanks

wow, sad to see the state of affaris between our countries getting so BS-y! Let me know how the saw goes when you can get to it. No hurry. Thanks!
