Smokeybear Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 to my grandmother's house I go. I went to see my grandmother and took the 48 with me. I wanted to show her my car and take her for a ride. She and my grandfather were married in 1948 and she said she hadn't ridden in a "old car" since she was very young. We stopped at the lake a took a few pictures. I figured I'd show you guys. My grandmother and her best "pinup" pose. She's 81 and her health has deteriorated in the last couple of years but I'm glad I got to spend some time with her today. For those of you still lucky enough to have them, tell your grandparents you love them. I did. Quote

Eneto-55 Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 I'm farther along in years, so all of my grandparents are gone many years already, but that's a great thing you did. I have also thought that once I can get my restoration restarted (& finished), I'd like to run the car over to area retirement homes, and offer rides. I think it would be a great thing for a club to do, like maybe doing an excursion for the old folks through the country during the Fall colors. Quote
knighthawk Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 we used do that in the car club I was in in Texas. We'd go the nursing homes once a year. I had a '55 Merc at the time, it's really neat to have an 'older' person wheeled out in a wheel chair, and tell some stories of their connections to the cars. Very whorth while ! Quote
Don Coatney Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 Our local hot rod club does a couple of nursing home runs every year. Quote
falconvan Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 I hope you let her drive home! Quote
