Son in law, Dale, is making headway in his repairs of damage caused by the

tornado. By comparison to our everyday cars, the vert had minor damage,

but there were places all over it, many fairly light...thank goodness.

Probably the biggest pain will be the repair or replacement of the wooden rear top bow,

above the window.

As you can see here, the garage disappeared, taking some stuff with it,

but left other things closer to the floor......

Even though the hood was closed, the storm threw that dirty stuff all in

the engine compartment, and wedged a small piece of wood in the frame...

evidently came up from under the car.

Wow, he's fast!

This looks like a complete makeover...

probably the best you can do.

Good thing it survived the storm so well.

How's the coupe doing?

The coupe is going to be sitting for a while.......he has the new top and

doors on it, but still has lots to do. He moved it out of the garage

and covered it up for now. Has replaced quite a bit of the floor, too.

There are some rust places that he will repair on the convert, since it's being

torn down to some extent. This wasn't from the storm, of course,

but needs to be addressed now. Most of the places have been there

for years, but have gotten a little worse and should be fixed.

A lot of the spare parts, that I've been collecting for many years, were

in my new 10 x 20 storage building......and ended up behind the next door

neighbor's house, around and under his garage roof that came off in one

piece. You can see what happened to the riding mower and the generator

that were in the shed. Also the roll around tool box......it just tossed them

around like toys. And, damaged something on each item.

Some things I had pairs of.....I found one of the pair, but not the other.....

such as a right side cowl section but not the left; only one ramp, and

only one chrome convertible window frame. Strange, but true.

Just had to start wading around amongst the branches and lumber at

first to find what had landed there. I know I didn't get it all, but got

all I could locate. Seems kind of trivial in comparison to the overall

damage done by the storm.....but we all have something we like.

Three fellows from the HAMB came over for a while and helped locate and

carry some retrieved parts. From left, Big Ken; Rudy; and I only got a part

of Ryno in this shot. They helped lots of other people around the city, plus cooked tons

of burgers in front of a church across town that was damaged.

H K Estes, who participates in both forums, also came up from Dallas,

along with HAMBers from several states.

Bob, Dale is making good progress. Is everything going back to the way it was as far as paint and top color?

Coming up on 6 weeks to the HAMBers start showing up for the Drags, is there any chance you will have the convert back by then?

Bob let us know if you need anything to put the vert back. If I have it-its yours.

Bob, great to see that Dale is making so much progress so quickly. What a great son-in-law! I have a feeling that the old convert is going to be nicer than ever. I hope everything else is progressing as well for you after the tornado. Any update on the house rebuild? As Ed said, if you need anything for the convert, let me know.

Thanks for the offers, fellas..........hopefully I have what is needed, but

you never know till you get to a certain place.

The old house is now gone......the contractor is to stake out the outline

of the new one today. So, progress is being made.
