mikemaker Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Howdy guys; Here's a couple pics of my beater after a 3 year sentence in the driveway. She's back on the road to recovery.....I'm just happy to get her on the road again. Quote
dndrodshop Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Rotting must have a different meaning in California than Wisconsin! Quote
deathbound Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Doesn't look like a beater to me........nice! Quote
kbuhagiar Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Doesn't look like a beater to me........nice! Yeah, I agree. Exactly which parts of this "beater" are rotting? We should all be rotting so nicely! NICE RIDE! Quote
mikemaker Posted May 18, 2011 Author Report Posted May 18, 2011 She photographs well, and I like her stance but she's a 20 footer at best. Got some rust issues on her butt and passenger side rocker panel I have to deal with thar am not looking forward to. Quote
Scruffy49 Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Well, I see a 76 ball, curb feeler, visor and spotlight. Where are the fender skirts? Looks good to me. 3 years is nothing, mine's sat since 94. Outside. In the Seattle area. Now I'm in the Memphis area. At least you still have color on yours. Quote
mikemaker Posted May 18, 2011 Author Report Posted May 18, 2011 skirts are in the garage, wanna buy them? I dont really have any use for them. I would gladly part with them for cheap. Bob, I have not been playing any music lately, all my gear is packed away, no time for any of that since my girl was born. I figure, someday I get back to it, but no time soon, that's for sure. Glad to see that you are doing well and still playing. Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Mike, Your car looks just great! I especially like the wheels with full cover hubcaps. Are the skirts steel ones? If they are, please let me know by private message what price you ask. I do have fiber skirts uninstalle but would be keen to buy steel skirts instead. /Pekka Quote
1940plymouth Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Mike, I would say the car survived her three year wait very well, great looking car just as she is Quote
1just4don Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 whats your address?? I wanna camp there for three years too and hope it makes 'me' look that good. Maybe its in the water there!!!Rainwater!! Quote
Scruffy49 Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 P15 skirts would match my engine, but not my fenders. I was just razzing you a bit anyway, I would love to have mine back to that condition. My truck was grandp'a cow and firewood hauler, then spent 20 years as a potato storage bin in the barn. Then another 17 years as yard art. Quote
Young Ed Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Mike I'd like a crack at those skirts if uncle doesnt. Is there a reason you aren't running them? Quote
49 Dodge Dude Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Nice. How do you like driving it with the visor? My '49 Dodge has one, and I'm not quite sure how well I like the visibility with it on. Quote
DonaldSmith Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 My DeSoto came with a Fulton sun visor when I first bought it, but I removed it because it impeded my vision of the traffic lights. How foolish of me! But I wised up, and reinstalled it, so now I am cool again. I have a knockoff Guide ("Guode") traffic light prism, which works if I squint at it right, and I have also discovered that often the traffic lights are visible in reflection on my brightly polished hood. We must endure some inconveniences to have a cool visor. Quote
mikemaker Posted May 18, 2011 Author Report Posted May 18, 2011 Bob T may want the skirts. He has first shot. Anyone else can send me a message if interested. They are not steel, they are fiberglass. Driving with the Fulton does impede visibility a bunch. It took me a few years, but I've gotten used to it. I may never sit up straight again. My wheel covers are off a 49 I believe. I have the originals in a box somewhere, I swapped them as I really like the way the 49's look and obviously I'm not a stickler for the originality of it. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 I took my Fulton visor off of a p-15 and put it on mine. It did seem too low so I moved the mounting holes about one inch up and I like it much better. Quote
