martybose Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 My hood moldings had studs in them, and fastened inside the hood with nuts and lockwashers. Marty Quote

48ply1stcar Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 Check "Restorations Specialities" on-line catalog and you will find the clip on page 119, part #B1108 Quote
martybose Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 Check "Restorations Specialities" on-line catalog and you will find the clip on page 119, part #B1108 Mine weren't anything like this; more like B1258 on page 126. This probably isn't the right one, but is roughly what they looked like. Marty Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 Just went out to the garage and looked at my hood.....sure enough, studs with nuts on them. The picture in the Parts Manual shows 9 holes on each side of the hood. I'm probably missing some as there are not that many, but the trim is attached securely. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 actually I have seen the combination of both the snap in clip and fixed stud clip..the fixed stud were on the ends to lock and secure the trim from shift..the clip in along the length kept it against the hood and in line..as the cars are older than I..this could be the works of the PO..but proved to be a quick easy effective method of attachment. BobT-47P15 Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 Some of the other side trim has a stud at each end with clips in between also. Quote
Andydodge Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 I think the stud at either end and clips in between is/was the standard way of attaching mopar body moldings & trim especially on doors with the studs protruding thru at each door edge where the door skin was crimped around the door shell. The exposed studs could then have a nut attached from the inside.........thats what I've found when I removed the moldings to paint my 40 Dodge yrs ago...........andyd Quote
michael.warshaw Posted May 7, 2011 Author Report Posted May 7, 2011 i aslo need door panel clips that look like this i think there are correct? does anyone know if resto specialties has these/ [/img] Quote
Oldguy48 Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 Maybe you should give them a call. If they're not sure of exactly what you need, you can send one of the clips as a sample. They'll be able to match them up for you. Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 (edited) That looks like the right one. Tom Edited May 7, 2011 by P-12 Tommy change wording Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 (edited) Here's pictures of 2 different kinds. I used a more modern clip on my panels 'cause I had more of them to complete what I wanted to do. Tom Edited May 7, 2011 by P-12 Tommy Add to it Quote
