1941Rick Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 Just came back from the Portland swap meet..............Four days of steady walking looking at old car parts and old cars.....one of the largest meets in the US......The only parts I could find specific to my P12 were some Fenton Headers....the vendor was silly in his pricing....$700....They are still there. were last year and I am sure they will be there next year....Are there any swap meets where you can find parts for the old Mopars?....Lots for the other guys..... Young Ed Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 I go to the back to the 50s swap meet and last year the last one of the season. I think between the two the only car item I bought was a 39-40 plymouth truck hubcap for the odd amount of 7.50. Then the two guys had to dig around and find me 2 quarters for change. I should add to be fair that I did see other plymouth parts I just didn't buy them. The one guy had a beautiful set of 1940 truck headlights but he wanted like 350 for them. Too much for me. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 we had a two day swap meet just 8 miles from the house...not much on Mopar..most are not..but there is the occassional piece to be found..always seem to find a few items of use...the walking about, seeing the sites, chance to catch up with the latest from a few friends..if going just for specific parts..cheaper to stay home and use mail order....getting harder and harder to find swap meets wehre average joe is cleaning ths shop..these are the stall to hit, find all the goodies here..everything else like new parts vendors..you can order online any time you wish.. T120 Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 Hope the weather was good last weekend in Portland,it can be wet this time of year.I was at the Portland swap meet a few years back.Always enjoyable but I've never found much for the old Mopars. It does seem that some vendors are opting for selling on the internet rather than swap meets judging by what I've seen for sale at the last few swap meets I've been to.I can't say I blame them, probably they stand a chance to fetch a higher price for their stuff and less work involved. That said,It won't deter me from attending - as mentioned there is the social aspect to be enjoyed. 1941Rick Posted April 4, 2011 Author Report Posted April 4, 2011 The social aspect is why I go....6 of us went down....always find like minded people who like to swap tales....and you never know what you might find.....next time I take a pocket full of cash...some awesome car buy's............and you get to see how spoiled the Chevy and Ford guys are. Just rained on us Saturday morning ( at the Expo Center ) Quote
oldodge41 Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 We have the Carlisle swap meets and the Hershey meet that always have some Mopar stuff. Not near as much as the other brands though. The most productive for me has been the Chryslers at Carlisle meet that is all Mopar. The majority is muscle car stuff but I have found old flathead era stuff there as well. At least it is all Mopar. austinsailor Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 We have a MOPAR meet here once a year. Totally useless - they consider 1960 to be very old. Never found a thing I could use in several years, I don't even go now. Quote
