Merle Coggins Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Wow, the dash is hacked up from a poor attempt at a radio installation. And why does he need the under dash gauges? Otherwise it's pretty cool even with a low side bed. (I prefer the high sides) As I understood it the "X" model B-1's should have an under dash park brake but this one comes up through the floor. When I met HerrOtto last summer his truck is a '49 B-1-B "X" model and it has the under dash park brake handle. Merle Quote
Dave72dt Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 It's been switched over to 12v. Probably why there's underdash gauges. Otherwise , truck looks to be in really good condition. Much better than most anything that can be found in the Midwest. Quote
desoto1939 Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 From what I can tell from the picture there looks to be a Modell AA Honey Dipper Truck in the background. Can anyone verify. Rich Hartung Quote
Reg Evans Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 The radio cutout is obviously meant for a 602/610T hybred. Now that's REALLY rare. I plugged the serial number he has listed into the serial number decoder and it comes up invalid (85300439X ) Hummm. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 But if you leave off the "X" it would be a California built B-2-B. Should still have an under dash parking brake to go with the column shift 3 speed. Or maybe them new fangled parking brake assemblies didn't reach the west coast 'till later. Merle Quote
Reg Evans Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Hey yeah. Without the X it says the truck is a 1950 built in San Leandro,CA. I don't think I've ever seen a transmission cover with only the E brake hole knocked out. Quote
Solution townwagon Posted March 31, 2011 Solution Report Posted March 31, 2011 Sorry guys, that is a failure of the decoder. We couldn't figure out how to deal with the X trucks without double entering all the serial numbers that might be Xs with the X added. There are a couple other oddballs we are still working on getting straight. Once more data is in hand (read more books bought, and more time spent out checking door tags in junkyards) those will be added. For now just pull the X off the end and you will get an answer. Merle Coggins Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Eric, In all of your travels have you ever seen a truck with a column shift and floor brake? I was under the impression that Dodge introduced the column shift and under dash brake at the same time. Merle Quote
Robert Thornton Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 If you look at shifting column it's outside dash bracket. My bracket on my 52 has extra bracket to support shifter it looks like truck had 4 speed originally the three speed shifter is out of line. thanks rt ps just guessing Quote
