I've been doing body work on my Dodge. My question is what would I use for welting between the fender and the top of the inner fender? Any suggestions?

Ok, I was thinking old style electrical tape. I had forgotten about friction tape. I'll dig around in the garage and see if I can find some or its off to Lowes.

That was a very interesting and i suppose "important" question.

I would not have given any thought to having friction tape between the fenders as when i removed mine there was nothing at all there.

So i would have more than likely not have used anything between these

surfaces!

Now i have learnt something new today and will add it to my list on the whiteboard.

Its a looooong list!

The front fenders call for anti squeek pads between the mounting bolts in place of the rear welting. Some have used pieces of inner tube glued to the inner fender. Body shop supply stores sell a roll of sheet rubber easily trimmed with shop scissors.

I believe you can get a roll of it fairly inexpensively from Moss Motors ( the british car parts supplier) as Austin Healys MG and Triumph used it as body to frame insulator.

It probably about 1/16ths thick. Another thing you can use is the stuff you can buy at the Home Improvement places that is a membrane/ flashing used to seal windows doors and skylights. This is a peel and stick deal latex or neoprene that you can also trim to size with utility knife or scissors.

Also, you might use 10 or 20 mil black gas wrap plastic tape. It is very durable,

cheap to buy, and comes in many different widths. I have used it many times.
