Don Coatney Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Will your welding supply shop rent one for a reasonable price? Quote
Young Ed Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Mark if it helps you any ours if from Metro welding on central in NE mpls. Dad bought it many years ago so I cant say if they have a good price or not. Quote
Dave72dt Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 I lease my tank from Airgas, five years at a time. Costs me about $50 to refill the medium size tank and for as much welding as I do, need to refill once or twice a year. They also sell the tank if you want but costs in the $200+ range. Short term use, lease. Long term, lifetime, purchase. I was only offered lease option when I first got mine. Quote
48Dodger Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 I've bought cheap tanks at harbour frieght or on craigslist and then exchanged them for full ones at Airgas. They dont fill tanks at our Airgas so if you dont have an exchange you pay a lot for the deposit/ or lease. I have 4 tanks with them. 48D Quote
MBF Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 Try TRACTOR SUPPLY or a similar retailer. I bought my tank from them and take it back to them for an exchange. Mike Quote
ggdad1951 Posted December 31, 2010 Author Report Posted December 31, 2010 ok, like the idea of buying and taking it in for exchange and not having to worry about the 5 year test. thanks guys! Quote
austinsailor Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 When you trade, check the date on the tank you're getting. If it's close to the limit, make them give you another tank. You can often take a tank from one chain and turn it in to another when you want to trade - unless it's out of date. Then they'll charge you for it. Many, maybe most, will take their own tank if it's out of date. Quote
