Greg F Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Bought a 1947 P-15 last week. I know nothing really about cars, and may have bit off more than I can chew. But I wanted to say thank you in advance for the wealth of information on this website. I am in the process of seeing if I can get it running, but may be locked up. Anyway I have learned more about cars (Plymouths) in the last week, than I have in the first 42 yrs of my life. Thanks again for all the information and help with getting this thing running...Greg (Dallas/Ft. Worth) Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Hey, Greg, welcome. If you've figured out how to do pictures, you might consider sending a couple views of your new ride. Have you put some type liquid into the engine yet to help possibly free things up? Hope it starts for you. Quote
53_Suburban Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Hi Greg - Welcome to the forum. Like Bob-T said, Got any pictures? Joseph Quote
Barabbas Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Greg-congrats on your 'new' plymouth! This forum also seduced me into buying an old Mopar--you won't be let down, this place has support for any issue you may run into Mike Quote
old stovebolt Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 OK, stupid question time...is there a thread /link somewhere on how to post photos here? Quote
Frank Elder Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 After you write your reply scroll down to manage attatchments click on that then browse then select photo, and the upload.....that will get you a thumbnail. Preveiw your post to see if your picture loaded, then submit. I've tried the full size pictures, I just can't figure that one out even with the instructions in front of me:eek: Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 (edited) I guess one of us with good picture posting knowledge and the patience to explain it in detail needs to do an instructional. That info might should become a sticky or some rather permanent feature. About how to use the thumbnail feature (paperclip) and the full size feature (the envelope with a mountain on it). How to bring a pic from a photo album, or I guess you can bring one direct from your desktop. How to cut and paste. How to at least place a link to a picture if you can't make the actual piture work. Like the old cement finisher said....."I've learned by trowel and error". Edited December 1, 2010 by BobT-47P15 Quote
suntennis Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 I just posted my first photos and here is the process I used. The first thing was to resize the photos for email and save them. Next, type out a "Reply to Thread' comment. Below this section scroll down to the "Additional Options" area ad select "Manage Attachments". Now go to "Upload File from Computer" type in location of email size photos ( such as my documents) and select "Browse" to locate the photo. Select the photo, then select "Open" then "Upload". After this you should see what the "Current Attachment" is. Do this for each photo. When finished, scroll below th "Additional Options" area and select "Submit Reply". There must be an easier way, but this did the job. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 (edited) Do any of you use an online photo album such as PhotoBucket, Snapfish. ImageShack or others? If so, you can get your pics into an album, then use the URL of that picture to get it to the forum. Sort of a cut and paste process. PhotoBucket has a feature that lets you resize your pictures to a set size as they come into the album. That way they are not so huge when posted. I also use Snapfish, but they don't have any way to specify size of the pictures. PhotoBucket is free until you reach a certain number of pictures or use a certain amount of bandwidth, then you have to pay about $25 per year. I find it a handy place, so I just pay and go on. Oops......sorry to hijack the original thread........now back to the new car on the block. Edited December 1, 2010 by BobT-47P15 Quote

hkestes41 Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 AAJetz Where are you located in the Metroplex? I am in far north Plano near Custer and 121. Maybe if you need some help I could offer a hand sometime. Quote
Greg F Posted December 2, 2010 Author Report Posted December 2, 2010 Thanks guys for the welcome. It is a great site and an amazing amount of knowledge. As for hkestes41, yes sir I live near Flower Mound so some day I may take you up on your offer. I think I finally got the picture small enough to attach. She seems to be in pretty good shape, needs a little floor work, some disc brakes, and probably alot of engine work. Anyway hope to get her on the road someday in the not to far future. Greg Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Greg, that's a darn good looking car. Body appears very straight. Looks like a brown or maroon color. Hope you can get it going before too long. Ask questions when necessary. Also you can try using he search button on upper right to check for previous posts on a given topic. Bob Quote
1940plymouth Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Greg, Looks like a good solid Plymouth to start with, good luck with it. Will be looking forward to following your progress over the winter. Bob Quote

47heaven Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 Congrats and you've come to the right place! I wish this site would have been available when I put my old 42 together! Get people and a fun site to just visit. Jon Wow, Jon....the trailer is cool! I recently bought, and am currently restoring, a 1948 Crown 12' travel trailer. Looks to be about the same size as yours. How does the car do pulling it? Do you have electric brakes on the trailer or are the car brakes sufficient enough to stop it? Also, I noticed how low the car is in the back...is that natural for the car to do that or do you need stronger shocks? Quote
