41/53dodges Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 there is a bolt holding my manifolds on, the one towards the middle-front that sits between the manifolds, and it is leaking some fluid onto the manifold. would this hole lead to the water jacket, or is there something seriously wrong? 41/53dodges Posted November 12, 2010 Author Report Posted November 12, 2010 what about it? does the bolt go through or not? Quote
ggdad1951 Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 having put my manifold studs on last night, I noticed the same thing....I think they ALL go thru to the water jacket, so I put some high temp RTV on them when I seated them JIC... call me crazy... Quote
Dave72dt Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 Yes, it goes into the water jacket. Repair manual states using a sealing compound on the threads and I believe on the head bolts as well. Quote

I used pipe dope on all of my head bolts and manifold studs. Also, a few of the front cover bolts go into the water jacket. Play it safe, use sealer on all of them. Merle Quote
