Do you think is worth that much  ?????

To the right person, that is a reasonable buy. Out of my price range but it is rare, restored sympathetically with the original wood. Nice car. Thanks for posting.

PROUD to say i have one ...the same color same year not quit as nice but they are very rare i think there was between 600 to 900 built ,,

Yes......it looks great. The price is about right for that type vehicle and

being a Dodge. Plus you get a whole roof rack full of goodies.

All those pictures are really nice.......a good way for anyone to study

the finer points of a woody wagon.

Man, that certainly is a nice car. I don't think I have even seen one with the spare on the tail gate like that.

Wonder what the boo birds have to say.

I like that they converted the radio to FM and still call it an all original car:)

"I like that they converted the radio to FM and still call it an all original car"

There ya go.........the age old interpretation & terminology thing.

As you've surely noticed, many ebay sellers claim an "original" car

when things like upholstry have obviously been re-done. So, it's

not as it came from the factory. But perhaps the overall flavor of

the car is similar to original. I guess they could call it something

like "similar to original", or "original looking", or some such terms.

But, then, "original" is worth more money.....theoretically, at least.

It would be interesting to know how many sellers really believe what they

say, and how many buyers take them at their word.

A lot of things they do to those cars is actually pretty nice, like a

good upholstry shop job on an interior.......new paint......new glass....

and other items. It just isn't "original". Of course, they usually

state it has new and re-done things, so if we were a serious buyer

WE would know it wasn't "factory". The fun of old cars.......

Bob..that brings us right back to the case in point of Ed and the young kids asking of the window crank lever...if you had no experience with an original..how do you know..it is the false advertising that is attacked here and the wording used to describe the item that is under attack..sometimes the job/car itself...but mainly in the manner it was portrayed.

I don't see what's false advertising here. I read it twice again, albeit fast, but never saw where the seller claimed "untouched" or "completely original". By stating what he did about the radio one should understand the car was modified in some way.

I, and I am pretty sure others would understand even the paint, body work, wood and interior would probably be done in a much better quality than original. I see no false information provided.

older body-off-frame, “nut and bolt” restoration of a rust-free original car

I am also pretty sure people understand a restoration means the car has definitely been touched, and 99% sure whatever defects, blemishes during production would be fixed.

Now, if it was sold as a survivor then I would think a argument could be made for false advertising.

I don't see where it was stated as "all original, nothing changed"

granted this is truly one beautiful car..and the descriptor take very little liberties of the pen but I do see the word restoration in use...also I see a major snafu on the car as shown..(per my research and knowledge and I never claimed to be an expert)

but in regard to the earlier post and the boo bird comment, that was defined by the entry word "Bob" addressing him by name on his post and reference to ads in general..and we all know the many ads we have discussed here...and if comments and opinions are no longer acceptable here..then I fail to see how this can be called a forum

Actually, the seller (a dealer in St Louis) DID state it was a nice original

car restored. To me, the revised radio is no big deal. He could have even

made the clock quartz, as long as he mentions it.

As one of just 800 Coronet station wagons built for 1949, this delightful example benefits from an older body-off-frame, “nut and bolt” restoration of a rust-free original car. It retains all of its original wood and the original drivetrain, as well as the AACA National First Place badge that it earned in 1994. Optional equipment includes a "Gyro-Matic" semi-automatic transmission, a heater, a clock and a radio that was modified to provide AM/FM capability.

Actually, I don't have any quibbles with this seller - just with other sellers

descriptions and terminology. Nothing I can do anything about except

comment on it. I don't think a lot of sellers are dishonest, just uninformed.

But they proceed ahead using the buzzwords of the old car field.

Now I dont know for sure but was Gyro-Matic a Dodge option? I thought this transmission was a upper class Desoto, Crashler option. My intent is not to knock-up the car but to get an education?

No where in my post did I say there was false advertising, plain and simple it is not original and should not be advertised as such, it is rebuilt to the owner's wants.....so leave interpeting my posts up to me.

Boo birds have opinions too.

My 3 owner (one being my grandfather from 1968-2009) unrestored 50 Dodge Coronet has the optional Gryo-Matic transmission. My understanding (passed down from Grandpa who was a mechanic/restorer by trade) was that "Gyro-Matic" was Dodge's name for the M6 trans, which had various other names (tip-toe, etc.) across the Chrysler line up.
