Bob_Koch
The publishers of Don Bunn's book: Dodge B-Series Trucks: Restorer's and Collector's Reference Guide & History just sent this message: We have scheduled an ultra short run printing of Don Bunn's Dodge B-Series Trucks book. Due to the increased printing costs for short run printing the price has increased to $49.95. The files are being prepared to sent off and we expect to have copies in stock between October 1 and October 15. The book can be ordered here: http://www.enthusiastbooks.com/si/10182.html Now, also in this message was this note: We also have discovered 2 boxes (about 68 books) of shop worn returns that we could sell from the original printing. I have not looked at every book but the books I looked at ranged from a slight discoloration of the cover to creased covers. We could sell these for $25 each. The shopworn books will have an Item # D10182 - and will not be available on the website but can be ordered by phone 1-800-289-3504 or by mail only for as long as supplies last. Price as noted below is $25 plus $3.99 shipping & handling and will be shipped as is - non-returnable. These are available now. . There ya go guys. Order up a new copy from the second printing, which will be ready mid-October or, buy a returned book, knowing it may have a slight defect, but at a great price. Order up! HanksB3B
About 60 people responded that they would want a copy of this great book and another five said maybe if the price were right. I lucked-out and somehow got Mar-K’s last copy on the shelf for the original retail price. It’s been thumbed through quite a bit now as it’s been too valuable a resource to just leave at home and serve as a “coffee-table” conversation piece. It helped a great deal during my trucks rebuild. It is a great book to have whenever I go to car meets or shows, where someone always wants to know something about our trucks that I don’t know. I’ve got to wait a while for my second copy that will become a “coffee-table” conversation piece in my house. If you’ve never held one in your hands, It’s beautifully written, full of very important technical details and OEM photographs. The book truly represents the legacy of Pilothouse. Hank P.S. My favorite picture is on page 108 where a 1951 B3B (with a short bed just like mine) is displayed at what Don Bunn describes as most likely the Detroit Auto Show. How would you like to see your cab being lowered onto a brand new frame on the assembly line! What's Better than That? Dave72dt
I ordered a new one and got the backordered letter also. I really don't NEED the book since my truck is so removed from stock that little will pertain, but it's a nice bit of history regardless. JBNeal
...received my returned book yesterday, and was disappointed to see "printed in China" inside...the edges of the covers weren't perfect, but the contents were worth their weight in gold as I easily spent an hour studying the photographs & tables for useful information. The first detail I learned: the pinstriping on the grille bars for my '48 should NOT be on the raised section in the middle, something I hadn't noticed but could clearly see in the factory photos. I also picked up a Dodge heavy duty truck book they had in stock, and it had a photo I had seen before of a factory tachometer in a 4 ton B-series, mounted on the dash near the wiper switch. There were quite a few pics of Big Horns from the 70s in there that were pretty sharp too. All in all, an excellent purchase...thanks Bob!
