BulldogTom Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 OK - you can call me an idiot because I am. Where is the oil filter on the engine? 1952 218ci We are getting ready to fire this thing up and I can't find the oil filter to change the oil. Please help. Tom Quote
Reg Evans Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Your truck may not have one. It was an optional item. Mine doesn't either. If yours does it's on the drivers side of the block about 2/3 of the way back. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Tom its possible you don't have one. Here's a pic I just happen to have handy. Typically the oil filter is mounted to the head on the drivers side of the engine back towards the firewall. Its blue in this pic(but what isn't). Its just behind the spark plug wire holder Quote
Dave72dt Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 That's a really nice looking eng compartment! One of the nicest I've seen posted here. Are the carb bases the same blue? They look darker in the photo. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 I can't really say for sure. Not my truck. I suspect with how much blue is in there they were the same. Personally its a little too much blue with the engine the same color as the truck. But it is a nice engine. Quote
DollyDodge Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 The B-1-ha my family has doens't have an oil filter, but the B-2-C we have does. Quote
greg g Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 Change the oil, by draining the pan and refilling through the breather tube on the dr's side of the engine. No filter??? Change it more often. Filters were optional ad dealer installed in most cases. They show up on e bay from time to time and are easy to fit. There are a couple of pipe plugs in the casting on the side of the block. Look for the point that the oil pressure gauge feeds from. One of them is the source for the filter, and the return line goes to a point near the dipstick. By the way where is the dip stick on the truck motor???? Quote
