austinsailor Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 I thought I might have the only '51 Fargo pickup in Missouri, but I guess not. Quote
rustyzman Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 That truck is crazy shiny. Did you catch the clear reflection of the guy taking the pictures in the hubcaps? Nice resto, but for that money it would need to be a lot more perfect for me, no paint runs, sunpro gauges, dented horn, etc. Still a really nice looking truck. Quote
Flatie46 Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 When I see a truck like this I always wonder how it looked before they started. I know trucks in general were used and abused back then. I like how the shifter is curved in those trucks, are the Dodges made that way? Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 That shifter handle looks custom shaped at the top end-never seen a dodge shifter like that. Bob Quote
pflaming Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Is the grill custom or rare? I would prefer a black front bumper, the eye-bolt tie down is a bit rinky-dinky, and he has two sets of guages. For that kind of money one would think he would have had the original guages restored. Yet it does turn the head. NICE! Quote
Dale Uhrich Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 I thought that type of rear fenders stopped in 1950. Also the front fender ribbets are missing( covered over) Quote
49powerwagon Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 I`m glad to see that me and my dad ain`t the only ones who pick apart shiny rigs! My mom had just about stopped going to car shows with us because she always thought we didn`t like the car because we picked out all the paint runs and bondo and such:D Quote
HanksB3B Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 The first time I restored (sort-of) my truck I pounded in the decomposed area where the front fenders were riveted to the fender support bracket, bondo'd the heck out of them and called it good. Next time around, and kind of getting my mind wrapped around the Don Bunn book (which I previously didn't know existed) I realized these were an important feature and went to some extent to get them looking correct by machining and welding carriage bolts. After seeing the labor of love that guys on the forum have put into their trucks, I'd have to say that the Fargo looks more like "restored to sell" than "restored to own". Hank Quote
HanksB3B Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Thought she looked familiar.. Not first photo, but 2nd. Quote
jakenoklahoma Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 I'm digging that Travelall next to it. Had one like that once, actually a 1310 (1 ton) 4wd Travelall.....it was a beast............. Quote
John-T-53 Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 That's a lot of black...exterior, interior, and even the engine. A few specs of dust might take a couple k off the price.... Quote
dontknowitall Posted May 17, 2010 Author Report Posted May 17, 2010 I Like the first one better....Raw,plain great beast! Thought she looked familiar..Not first photo, but 2nd. Quote
