The person that is selling this has listed this a fitting the Desoto engine. The Chrylser and Desoto flat head 6 had the longer block that measured 25 inches and this head is only 23 inches.

i have an original Mopar aLUMINUM HEAD WITH THE dpcd LOGO ON THE HEAD FOR THE BIG BLOCK ENGINES.

tHIS IS ALSO FOR SALE IF ANYONE CAN USE THE HEAD

Do you know if your aluminum head has a higher comp ratio than a stock cast iron one?

Reg I believe the alum heads were in the 7.0 to one area. In responce to Caddy Packard and Lincoln raising their CR when Ethyle gas came out in the late 30's.

Well then...isn't that about the same as a cast iron head of the same era.

I wonder why the factory would put out an aluminum head ?????

Heat dissipation is the main reason for going to an aluminum head.

If you are talking about the original Al head there are no weld marks it is just the color of the head.

Also the head took the rated horsepower up from 92 to 100 with the Al head.

I don;t know if it was repaired or not but just wondered why it looks as though it had been resurfaced in second pic when first pic looks new, never used? If it sounds to good to be true buyer beware, only my 2 cents.

The marks you see can be from new. They still mill them when they are new to make them true.
