adam_knox Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 I can't believe it! In three months time I'll be driving the Chrysler in Savannah, GA! Still wrapping my head around the fact that I can finally toss my winter gloves! So for all my future fellow Georgians (is that what you guys are called? We're Wisconsinites up here), is it true you can use a GA license plate you find at a flea market and use it on your car as long as the year of the plate matches the year of your car? If so, anyone actually do this? Just seems too cool to be true... Checked on a local car club's website down there, just wanted to make sure it was accurate before I start scouring through bins at flea markets this spring! Anyway, can't wait to meet all you fine folk down there. Will finally have my weekends off so I can start going to car shows, picnics, and drive-ins. Boo up! ~ Adam Quote

Plymouthy Adams Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 YOM tags are legal in Georgia and other than you buying the tag..no additional cost to you to register...you simply take your tag in for inspection, you get a state form that says this tag is confirmed over (associated) with the regular registration..you display your YOM tag on the vehicle and carry the regular plate in the trunk along with the letter of confirmation. OR you can get an antique tag at no extra charge other than normal plate fee to display if you wish..it has an embossed antique car on the left side of the tag..And do not throw out the winter glaves...the weather just this morning says low 20"s for us tomorrow morning..you may also wish to get blue dots lenses as they are also legal here..reciprosity is that if you state allows it they must obey our state law when traveling...Savannah is nice area but plenty of pine trees..hope you do not have allergies to pine pollen...lol Quote
Merle Coggins Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Glad to hear that your dream is coming true, Adam. I hope all goes well with your relocation. I'll miss you around here. I was looking forward to having a chance to get out to a cruise in, or something, with you this summer so I could check out your Chrysler. I seem to be slowly loosing my Milwaukee area Old Mopar guys. By the way, I still have your Motor's Manual at home. I'll bring it in to work and keep it here on my desk. If you're passing by any time after today stop in and grab it. Merle Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 We had some friends who moved to Savannah about 9 years ago due to his job. They thought it was a nice and interesting town. Then his company was sold, his job was outsourced, and now they're back here in Missouri. Bought a house one street over from us in our subdivision. I hope you enjoy the town and the area......we never did get there to visit them so can't give any firsthand info. Not sure it's all so warm there at all times, though. Quote
Young Ed Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Good luck in the move. If all going according to plan I should be in your area in mid may if you are still in WI. Quote
adam_knox Posted February 24, 2010 Author Report Posted February 24, 2010 Thanks gang! Your right Mackster, its like a match made in heaven! Bukowski is excited about getting to ride in the convertible every day. Ford Tauruses just are not engineered for Great Dane passengers! Can't wait to put a Peach State tag on the car! Pine trees? Seems like you can't win. Around here there's Red Baron elite squad of birds that have laser guided sights for my car when they poop. Now it sounds like I'll be trading in bird poop for pine tree sap! Merle and Ed, don't worry, not rolling out until June 1st (getting hitched on May 29th), so weather pending we should at least have a few weeks window to meet up and enjoy some sunshine! BTW Merle, did you get the tran clutch plate done? I don't know about keeping the winter gloves. When I went down there for the interview everyone was freaking out about the snow that was predicted for the day. The gal at the hotel wouldn't let me walk a half mile that day, she must've thought I'd get frozen in the great blizzard of 2010! She called a cab when I wasn't looking! Bob your more than welcome to head down to Savannah whenever you feel like it. Seems like there's a cruise-in every month of the year! I'll make you a nice steak if you come by. Can't wait to use the grill without having to shovel a path to it! Quote
