Rodney Bullock Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 Ok I put on my long johns and went out to take some shots of the woderful wonder land that is my front door. Hey Joe, My snow is deeper then yours:) The surrius radio started playing again I guess the snow cleared up the interference. My wife wants me to clean her car. I hope she don't think I'm going back outside. Oh wait, she's cooking pancakes;)...I gotta go. Which end should I start at:cool: Quote
randroid Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 Rodney, Start at the bottom of the walkway and work your way up. That way you'll do several times the work and have an apatite for more pancakes. -Randy Quote
pflaming Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 Neat pictures. Next storm lay out a bunch of old electric blankets, bottom side up and you won't have to scoup the stuff. Apricot orchards are in bloom out here, need some fruit? Quote
Flatie46 Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 I got jipped last week end! It was our anniversary and we went to Gatlinburg. A big snow storm was hitting home friday as we left. We were thinking cool we might get snowed in in the mountains;). We get there and end up getting about an inch or so. Back home they got 8 inches. We didn't even get enough to make snow cream. We came back sunday and most of it was melted. Had a great time in G-burg though anybody here ever been there? Quote
moparjack44 Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 Snow here in Southside Virginia. Jack Quote

thrashingcows Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 Man up here in the "Great white north"...not this year....it's 65-ish degrees F, with sun and cloud. Think I might take the wagon out for a spin. Quote

Frank Elder Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 Rodney , my snow is deeper than yours . We're at 38in and still counting ! i'll post some pics after i've done some shoveling ...... wish i had some pancakes ..Mike This same front hit us a few days back but it was the tailend, mixed with rain only about 6 in or less but each scoopfull was about 8 to 10lbs, or what I like to call heart attack snow....very wet indeed. So since I am lazy I broke out the snowblower, it would only shoot it about 4 feet before plopping on the ground. What a mess. You guys be smart and don't overdue it. Quote
moparjack44 Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 Flatie: I've been to Gatlinburg many times. I have been twice, my first and my last time. Waaaaay too many people in too small area. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 Here are some shots from my neck of the woods: Quote
Andydodge Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 Joe........how long did it take to drop that much snow.........amazing.......andyd in Oz Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 It started at about noon yesterday and went pretty much nonstop until about three this afternoon. The system isn't supposed to leave the area until about ten tonight, so there may be more to come. Another storm coming on Tuesday, I hear, and temps aren't supposed to get much above freezing for the next week or so, so we'll be living with this for a while. Quote
dparksie Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 This was my day. It is still snowing here. When will end?? I move to the south to get away from the white stuff! The tree is my next door neighbor's. Thankfully the chimney is solid so I guess I know my next project:o Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted February 7, 2010 Author Report Posted February 7, 2010 WOW, hey Joe I know the dog loved it. I was gonna visit I guess not now:rolleyes: You are having a real good time over there. All that's needed now is a real good sled. All our sleds are down at my granddads alot of good it does us down there now:mad: Quote
Gary Manes Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 Rodney, I went through several of those storms when I lived up on "S" Street. However, I had some great out-door clothing, and was able to walk everywhere. Aslo, had no driveway, etc. to clean off. I did not have a car, and my walk, including steps, was a little over twelve feet. Naturally, our power lines were underground, so there was never a problem with losing power during those storms. I do wish you the best of luck getting through this recent event. Quote
1just4don Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 In these parts that would come complete with 40-60 mph winds and stack it in 20' plus drifts. Obviously you arent used to that much wind out there or those weakling trees would have been long gone, long ago Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 Went for a walk tonight. This is what it looked like: Quote
boxer_inv Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 Hi guys This thread is just making me shiver....!! I'm looking forward to experiencing that type of cold in my life sometime....but having to deal with it like you guys do, nup, not for this kid. Here's a pic taken today during an outing that our family had. Had a day out in the boat (mine's the black one). Hope it makes you feel warmer:cool: Here's my eldest and youngest with nice background. Quote
Andydodge Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 Rob.......no need to be bashful........thats your runabout beside the wharf isn't it.......and I thought you would have at least apologised for the clouds in the sky...........no need to make the yanks too envyous...............lol.........andyd Quote
chopt50wgn Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 I've been snow blowin 24 inches of climate change for the past 3 hrs. Now we are supposed to get another 6-12 on Tues into Wed...........where the hell is spring? Oh well at least my shop is heated and I just filled the tank. Quote
55 Fargo Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 Sorry to hear about your snow Guys in The Mid Atlantic States. We had a strom warning last night for Southern maniotba, but it's cancelled now, got about 2 inches of snow, and maybe another 1 inch of it today, but blowing from the north, which causes problems in open areas. Here are some pics I just took in my yard.........Fred PS stay warm, do not attempt to shovel all snow at one time, especially if your not in shape, take it easy, as snow shovelling is a major cause of heart attack, for people not in shape..... also is a pic of my 73 John Deere snowblower, woprks good, it's a little small for my big driveway, but works Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 Very nice pictures. Looks a lot like the Caribbean. I think I might have told you guys that my father was stationed in Australia during WWII and he fell in love with it. He told stories about it for the rest of his life. So anyway, you aren't missing anything here. We're the ones who are missing out, by the looks of your pictures. Quote
