scottyv47 Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 i was going through some old stuff i had in storage the other day, and i came accross some realy cool old pics of my dads 39 plymouth business coupe takin in 1962, he swapped out the flattie for a 325 polyhead, backed with a 3 speed manual truck trans, a very cool original ratrod, like the ones everyone is trying to build now, it realy inspired me to find a 39 plymouth Quote
scottyv47 Posted January 22, 2010 Author Report Posted January 22, 2010 if i can find a 39, i want to build it exactly like dads, and take it and him back to the house in the picture, the house he grew up in, which i google earthed today, and its still there, and looks pretty much the same, and take the same pictures, kinda like a now and then thing Quote
Andydodge Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 Scotty, thats a neat car your dad had, but one thing......that was a Hot Rod or Street Rod.........never a ratrod.........ratrods are things that try to be something that never was, your dads Hotrod was just that......a hotrod........and a genuine one.............regards, andyd...owner of a hotroded 40 Dodge Sedan with a 318 Poly since 1973. My Father-in-law replaced the engine in my '40 Dodge around 1952/53 with the D24 that's in it now. I wanted to get the car back on the road so that he could have another drive but I missed; he died of stomach cancer about 1 month before the car came out of the paint shop. Phil Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 all hot, no rat:cool: great pics, thanks for sharing! Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 What a truly handsome car! - a real beauty. To my tastes Plymouth did beat Chevrolet and even Ford coupes in 1939 by far. Thanks for sharing, Scotty! Quote

Uncle-Pekka Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 What about Dodge?Signed Grandpadodge Well, Dodge beats Mercury, Olds and Pontiac, of course! (Seriously, I think Dodge grille in '39 was not the most attaractive - It was sure better than Olds and Pontiac, but less than Mercury, Ford or Plymouth...) Quote
