Never have! They kinda grow on you after looking at them. I think they would really change the apperarence of your car. Would also make for a cooler drive, and keep the rain off your arm. I wonder if you could reach a certain speed, one would experience front end lift?? MW

As mentioned, I've never seen any like that on a car before. Not even when I was growing up in the late 40's and 50's.

That said, I'm wondering after thinking about them. Seems as though I've seen short windshield visors on big rigs before. Wonder if those were actually made for an old big rig truck?

I vaguely remember a small chrome shade or rain shield over at least the rear windows on our brand new 48 Plymouth from when I was a kid. They were not that tacky but they were certainly small than the ones pictured.

My mom had a 53 4 door Plymouth with chrome shades on all four doors. At the time I thought they were tacky as all get out, not much has changed as I still think they are tacky.

James, I know the ones you are talking about, but Lucky Devils is a lot larger (wider) than the normal ones. The narrow ones were on a lot of cars back then as aftermarket items. They were also shaped differently, sort of like the plastic ones you see today.

Since no one has seen ones like Lucky Devils, maybe the previous owner made them. Looking at them, you could easily shape some stainless steel to make ones like he has. Especially hanging over the door like that. The old aftermarket shades fastened in the window track opening, not hanging over the door like his.

Im digging them! I think they look good and add a little to the overall look. how do they stay put to the door? will they fall off if you go really fast!

Thanks guys. I fell in love with the car when I saw the visors. I was gonna buy it anyways, but the visors made it a sure thing. My dad's car had the Fulton visor and I like the look of it. I don't know who made them but I think they accent the car really well.

As far as how they are mounted, there are little clips riveted to the lip that goes over the door frame. The are too well made and too uniform on both sides to be home made in my opinion. One of these days I might have them rechromed, but that might make the rest of the car look bad, so I will wait for that. Also thought about stripping the visor and polishing it, but I thought that might be a little too much.

I suspect those were aftermarket accessories sold by someone like JC Whitney,

Western Auto, or some purveyor of add-on parts. There were many types of

accessories offered - some pretty neat, some kinda wierd. Not many examples

of some may have survived. I think they even made a little canvas awning for

over the windows.

My Studebaker has eyebrows over the windows. Originals were polished aluminum or body color but they are factory original.

Actually, some of these were sold as original Mopar accessories. I had some for a 50 model I sold on eBay some time back. Lee
