Norm's Coupe Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 I may not agree with what they are charging for that little piece of plastic. But.........good luck finding one for under $100. That is, unless it's used, and crazed, chipped or both. Quote
michael.warshaw Posted October 11, 2009 Author Report Posted October 11, 2009 who ells the colored one? Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 As mentioned, there is someone on ebay that sells them. I've also seen them on some online website. However, since I will not pay that kind of money for a little piece of plastic, I did not bookmark and do not remember their names. You'll have to run some online searches for that. When and if my plastic insert breaks, I'll order a new stainless bull nose to replace the whole hood ornament. They are about the same price and I like those. Don't mind paying that kind of money for a full hood length stainless bull nose. Now, I do have the stainless bull nose place bookmarked, but it's not original, it's custom. That in mind, a colored plastic insert for you hood ornament is not original either. The originals are clear plastic. The colored ones are custom aftermarket stuff. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 I'm confused. Are you guys talking about the hood ornament or the hood emblem (badge)? Quote
michael.warshaw Posted October 11, 2009 Author Report Posted October 11, 2009 hood ornament plastic piece Quote

Joe Flanagan Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 This is the hood ornament: Are you talking about the thing that is missing in this picture? If so, sign me up. I'd sure like to find one. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 Joe you've got it different then a p15. On a p15 the lower hood piece is all cast while the hood ornament(ship) has a plastic ornament. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 Thanks Ed. Now I know why I'm confused. Quote
David Maxwell Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 ...depending on your settings and how large the image displays when you open this. The upper part is clear plastic and the base is chrome. Thanks Ed. Now I know why I'm confused. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 And.......I think those colored ones that appear from time to time on ebay are solid, not hollow like the original. Guess that part would not be a problem if not wanting to put a light inside the ornament. Have not seen one of those up close and personal. The $100 price tag is pretty much what they go for nowadays. That's what I paid for mine......it's clear, and hollow, like the original. Quote
47heaven Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 If you're going to do that you might as well paint "Sh-Boom" on the side of your car as well. I think the original, clear plastic ones look the best, and they are always on Ebay. Sometimes you can get the whole ornament with the plastic cheaper than the plastic itself. Quote

Norm's Coupe Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 47heaven........And the problem with Sh....boom is? LuckyDevil.......a bull nose is a ring that farmers put in the Bull's nose. Just kidding, but that is one definition. The other is a for custom/street rod cars. YukonJack.......You can get the bullnose at Fat Fendered Relics. http://www.fatfenderedrelics.com/ Quote
michael.warshaw Posted October 12, 2009 Author Report Posted October 12, 2009 with the light inside, cant it burn the plastic? Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 Heck, yeah. It could set your whole car on fire. I was going to paint "Sh-Boom" on the side of my car. Now I can't. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 The bulb in a hood ornment is so small it usually won't damage the plastic. At least mine hasn't, and I've used it for several years. In fact, I now have two bulbs in my new ornament , one in front of the other. Quote
