As mentioned, there is someone on ebay that sells them. I've also seen them on some online website. However, since I will not pay that kind of money for a little piece of plastic, I did not bookmark and do not remember their names. You'll have to run some online searches for that.

When and if my plastic insert breaks, I'll order a new stainless bull nose to replace the whole hood ornament. They are about the same price and I like those. Don't mind paying that kind of money for a full hood length stainless bull nose.

Now, I do have the stainless bull nose place bookmarked, but it's not original, it's custom. That in mind, a colored plastic insert for you hood ornament is not original either. The originals are clear plastic. The colored ones are custom aftermarket stuff.

What exactly do you mean when you say bull nose? is that just a replacement of the whole hood emblem? do you have any pics of one?

Joe you've got it different then a p15. On a p15 the lower hood piece is all cast while the hood ornament(ship) has a plastic ornament.

And.......I think those colored ones that appear from time to time on ebay are solid,

not hollow like the original. Guess that part would not be a problem if not wanting

to put a light inside the ornament. Have not seen one of those up close and personal.

The $100 price tag is pretty much what they go for nowadays.

That's what I paid for mine......it's clear, and hollow, like the original.

If you're going to do that you might as well paint "Sh-Boom" on the side of your car as well. I think the original, clear plastic ones look the best, and they are always on Ebay. Sometimes you can get the whole ornament with the plastic cheaper than the plastic itself.

Who sells the Bull Nose replacements?

The bulb in a hood ornment is so small it usually won't damage the plastic.

At least mine hasn't, and I've used it for several years.

In fact, I now have two bulbs in my new ornament , one in front of the other.
