Guest Nile Limbaugh Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 It finally happened. A huge storm hit last night dumping enough snow south of Chattanooga to actually cover the shorter blades of grass! Stay home! Those of us who were raised in cooler climes are in danger of being killed by drivers who have never ventured out in this stuff. Tim, did you get any? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 Don't know about Tim.....but here in southwest MO we got about 3 inches of snow yesterday afternoon & evening. It was very wet at first, therefore very slick......causing a lot of accidents because people could not stop. Many seemed to be driving as if there were nothing on the road.....and some discovered differently. We still have a certain amount of ice left from the storm a couple weeks ago....melting pretty slowly due to cold temps. Spring & Summer should look pretty darn good. Quote
Ed Griffin Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 We finally got a little dusting as well and a little more later today supposedly. Quote
Guest mudflap22 Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 Here in Wonderful Wyoming, there's been snow on the ground since a week before Christmas. Most of January has been with temperatures of no greater than 25 above zero so the snow has not really melted. Even with snow every year for at least five months of the year, ther are drivers here who when they have accident, blaim it ALL on somebody else: ice and snow plus speed = bent metal DUH! Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 Nile..no snow..we did however have rain last night and it is still coming down out there now..actually it is a bit warm...as long as we have the cloud cover we will fair well. Hoping for a nice day at the swap meet tomorrow. Buddy is visiting..we made a run to Harbor Freight this morning...now am waitng for Gary Dahmer to come by the house. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 Hey guys, I'll trade you that little dusting of snow for the weather we're expecting tomorrow through next week. Supposed to be lows at night between -6 and -12 with wind chills down to about -40. Day times are supposed to be a balmy high of between 8 and 12 degrees above with below zero wind chills. We currently have about 6 inches of snow on the ground. So, I'll gladly swap you our weather for yours. 25 above is almost shirt sleeve weather compared to what we are in for. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 Norm..Friday morning..it is just past 6 AM...ready to hit the road for the swap meet... 40 degrees..rain has moved through..expecting highs in the upper 50's Hope I can believe them. Quote
Don Coatney Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 Bit of snow on the ground both yesterday morning and today here in the Boro. The road looks wet not white so driving should not be a problem. Tim did Gary arrive safely? I look forward to giving him a ride in my Plymouth tomorrow if the weather permits. Quote
Young Ed Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 Our forcasted high for tomorrow is -2! We don't have as much snow as Norm does though. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 Hey Don..yes Gary and his buds made it through right on the time he predicted. Did a bit of socaializing..gave them the nickel tour and they went about their way. Ran into him at the swap meet..he found a few nice items as did I ...we both did well. I further met a few people that are not that far from me with parts cars at their place. Maybe some other trades/deals later. I scored a part today that I just had to have..not needed by any means but for the price I had to get it..It is a maked lady in chrome..about 3 1/2 inches tall...she be standing on an octogon base with offset screw holes..her arms is extended over her head..her brest upthrusting and her hair is long and flowing..for a dollar..had to get it..make have to use this to put in place of the original wiper knob hole that I will not be using. I really think this is one of the mascots that bolt to a radiator cap cover from the 30's. Other parts scored..many parts seen and some very nice but just cannot buy them all....tried to concentrate on items needed.. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 Tim, I try not to buy things I don't need at the swap meets too. However, like you some things you just can't pass up. A couple of years ago was at a swap meet. We were sort of center isle shopping and on our way out for the day. As I passed one booth I saw a Ford horn ring and button laying on top of a box. On the box it said everything inside the box was a dollar. The 51 Ford horn ring and button looked almost perfect, so I had to ask the guy if it was a dollar too. He said yes. Bought that and another perfect Ford truck horn button for one dollar each. Came home put them on ebay and sold them. Netted $75 for the two combined on ebay. So, it pays to buy things you don't need sometimes. Quote
JohnS48plm Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 We are leaving saturday morning for Myrtle Beach,SC. It's 7 degrees and 6-12 inches of snow are expected here in Michigan. I hope it warms up down south for part of our vacation. Quote
55 Fargo Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 You know what guys, it was -32 or -36 c here this morning, now that's getting to cool for me even. My garage was about 30, because one of my heaters was on low. When I pulled in my daily driver last night, it was leaking antifreeze, from the waterpump, so it will have to be changed.I was lucky it didn't happen on the highway on the way home, as I didn't even have the cell phone along. Right now it's about 6 below, supposed to be down to -30 or so overnight, trust me this isn't pleasant, and it's darn hard on vehicles when you drive em in this weather, and boy do they suck gas when it's this cold..............Rockwood of the north:eek: Quote
