That's a sweet looking car except for........ the signal lights. Those '54 tail lights were wired for dual filament bulbs so why not use them as your signal lights. That is what I did on my '53. Nice car though.

you are right Robert..that sure is one way to ruin a nice club coupe..the C pillar emblems, outer bumper guards, tail fins are special order, that car should have had standard equipment signal...the car is also equipped with back up lights by looks of the rear lens, odd that the front vent has a deflector and not the side glass..with radio delete even. The car is sweet and clean with the door panels being installed improperly (letting the pattern and color slide) and engine the wrong color..would be a very clean example..

could these be a carry over from a fire department use vehicle? if not..very poor taste..

Those tail lights remind me of the 54 two door for sale locally some time back.....they

used hood ornaments on each rear fender in place of the fins.

I suspect the owner of the car may know some things about Plymouths, but maybe

not everything. Or he just liked Ford engine blue better than silver.

Tim, I did not notice the outer bumper guards. I have never seen them before and think if I had the choice, I would not have them on a car. It makes things look a bit cluttered. Interesting to know they were an option though. I sure do like the '53s and '54s. I think they are overlooked and underrated.

they were added to what I recall reading to make the car look bigger..same as the extended headlight brow etc etc..my 54 has the outer guards..the 54 was failing in sales even moreso than the 53..they did all kinds of special apperance packages and two tone paints to enhance the model..it was not a good year sales wise...I am with you however that these cars do grow on you...my car was not one I went looking for, instead a man knew I had a bunch of old Plymouths and came by and offered the car to me...rest is history...the fact it was unmolested (rusty and ugly) it had the 230 and the automatic and being a club coupe..I went ahead and bought the car..reading up on the model finds that I got a car that was shipped with both appearance packges from the factory also..pretty much optioned for mid line Savoy...the engine paint was still nicely preserved with no sign of repaint..the odo said about 45,000 and I think that is original according to the oil change/mileage tag on the door jamb..

I have seen pictures of your '54 and must have missed the rear outer guards. I guess we often see what we want to see. The rear bumper guards (bumperettes I call them) on the '53 are spaced further apart and the licence plate light is in the bumper itself, not the bumper guards.

Yes, I have seen both pictures before but never noticed the four bumper guards on the back of your car. Like the colour by the way.
