jd52cranbrook Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 Is there anyone in the LA area that can pick up a engine for me, who may also be traveling north in the future that can maybe meet me, or pass it on to another headed up north? I live in Mt. View, just north of San Jose. I know, weird request, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks, JD Quote
Don Jordan Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 I'm going to try to go to the Fair in Sacramento. Since I'm from the bay area I usually go up 99 to Sacramento and then down the 101 through the peninsula. If you could send me some more information it might be in the works. I'll be going the end of August first of September. Quote
Young Ed Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 Certainly not a silly question. I once had a pair of 39-40 truck fenders I bought in NC. They were from a guy on the 39-47 dodge truck yahoo group. I posted a similar request on there and on the Old IHC board. Through a relay I got them hauled to MN by a couple IHC guys. Of course they turned out to be worthless to me but thats a whole nother story..... Quote
kevin h P15 Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 What part of LA? Can pick up location load? Might be able to help out if engine only. No real plans to head up that way soon, but who knows. PM me. Any rush? Can store here in Ventura CA for a while... kevin Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted August 20, 2009 Author Report Posted August 20, 2009 Thanks for the replies. I am trying to get more info on the engine now. Suppose to be out of a De Soto, but the numbers don't make sense to me yet. S11115740,, but I think he got it from the wrong location. If all looks good I will post here. Quote
greg g Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 "S" is a DeSoto prefix, remember this will be a 25 inch engine and will require some modifications to install in a Plymouth. Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted August 20, 2009 Author Report Posted August 20, 2009 Yes, with the help from Mr. Watson I figured it out. (thank you). I realize it will need modifications. So the request is back on please. The location is Murrieta Ca. 92562. There is no real rush to get it up here. I can work the details out the person doing the original pick up. Again, Thanks in advance for any help. JD Quote
dezeldoc Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 (edited) That is not in the LA aera, it is in the temecula/north san deigo aera. quite a bit farther south. kinda like saying it is in san jose when it is in sonoma. Edited August 20, 2009 by dezeldoc Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted August 20, 2009 Author Report Posted August 20, 2009 Yes I realize that. I just now got the exact location. Sorry for the misrepresentation. But maybe there are some members down that way? Quote

I have a Desoto 251CI engine in my P-15. It required several modifications but I am glad I did it. Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted August 20, 2009 Author Report Posted August 20, 2009 It is either out of a 46 or 47 according to Bill Watson. The engine is a 25" block, 236.6-cid, with a bore of 3-7/16" and stroke of 4¼" putting out 110 hp at 3600 rpm. Quote
dezeldoc Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 JD, the wife informed me she wants to go see her brother in san deigo so when i find out when we are going, if you still don't have it picked up i could bring it to the high desert/ bakersfield. i'll let ya know. Mike Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted August 20, 2009 Author Report Posted August 20, 2009 That would be great Mike. Another twist to the request. The person who has it will be out of town from August 24th and will be gone until the 2nd of Sept. But there is no rush to get it before then. Quote
