greg g Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 A car club in Washington state is planning an EAST vs WESTreliability run for flathead powered cars. Its being planned for 2010. Basically they will assemble in two location and drive toward a point in the middle of the state. Maybe some of our guys could run their MOPARS and show the fords, Caddys, Pontiacs, and others how to do it. Most cars there by NOON wins. We are planning a Washington state Eastside VS Westside reliability run for 2010. It will be for non-overhead cars, hot rods, stockers whatever as long as it doesn't have a overhead in it. With the exception of vintage conversions. There will be a group starting on each side of the state, Antique Auto Ranch in Spokane and Amocat in Puyallup. Both groups will head 150 miles to Vantage Washington. The side that gets the most cars to a predetermined place in Vantage by noon wins. Hopefully this will be a anual event with a (AMBR style) trophy and the winning sides name and clubs engraved on it. Like I said we are in the planning phase and I would love some feedback. I will keep you posted when we have better information on the times and dates. thanks John __________________ Thee Inland Emperors Car Club http://www.myspace.com/inlandemperors Quote
blueskies Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Only 150 miles??? If they are worried about reliability in such a short jaunt, they've got wrenchin to do! I drive my '50 200-250 miles every week... Pete Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Only 150 miles???I drive my '50 200-250 miles every week... Pete Same here, and hopefully going to Detroit in 2010. I'd have to drive 750 miles just to get in the race, lol. But it might be fun to swap stories and kick tires. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Its all flat heading west to Vantage from Antique Auto Ranch. Heading east to Vantage from Puyallup you have the Cascade mountains to get up and over! Thats not fair! Bob Quote
greg g Posted August 3, 2009 Author Report Posted August 3, 2009 Bob, which side are you on??? Either way put it on your calander and show them what reliability is. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Bob, which side are you on??? Either way put it on your calander and show them what reliability is. I'm on the west side of the BIG HILL! 60 miles to the top. A lot of camers/cops too- this side of that hill watching for big city slickers speedin in their high powered cars trying to get somewhere before anyone else. Spokane westward doesn't have that problem like we do. From Seattle to Ellensburg you have to be careful about the speed limit. Bob Quote
Captain Neon Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Yeah, 150 miles. Big deal. I drive further than that just to go for a steak and a beer. That's just 1/2 tank of gas in a P15. Quote
T120 Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 If you have the time and can afford the gas - it's all about enjoying the drive in your old car Quote
Captain Neon Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 That makes for an expensive steak and beer' date=' when you add the cost of the gas to the beer and steak. Think I'd find a place much closer to eat my steak and drink my beer. Or, move closer to civilization.[/quote']Yeah, but it's only a 5 block walk to work every day. I may get out for a steak and a beer once/month. Besides, I have Missouri's beautiful Green Hills to enjoy when I go for a drive. I'm not stuck in Milwaukee. Chicago's ugly little sister. Quote
james curl Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Norm, some of us just enjoy driving our old cars and any excuse to drive is good enough. I just like driving mine and will drive it in 107 degree outside temp to do errands around town rather than my air conditioned 03 chevy. I quite often just get in it ad go for a drive in the country for fun and pleasure and if there was a steak dinner and a beer there all the better. I my not be the only crazy on the forum, there my be others. Quote
