Norm's Coupe Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 Lot of people here, some new...posted comments and questions and no idea about what car they are referring to. Look in the profile and it is a dead end...I know some people may have a phobia about placing personal info on the site...not without merit might I add..but a first name maybe, general location like UCLA (upper corner of lower Alabama)..would be nice. At least mention your car's year, make and body style...sure would go a long way in getting a "tailored" answer to your questions..We have a great number of profiles already and many pictures to boot...but we can make it better... Thanks... Tim, Just initials won't work. For example: Whey you said UCLA I immediately think about the University of California. Not the upper corner of lower Alabama. Quote
Normspeed Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 Norm, I think that UCLA thing was a joke.... Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 Well, in that case I guess I be horn swaggled. Quote
Normspeed Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 Darn, Tim, now you've done it! In my mind I'll be putting the Foghorn Leghorn voice into every one of your posts. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 Tim.....i agree with your sentiment - I was looking thru the members pages a couple days ago. Numerous names with no info. They don't have to fill in the date of birth, or give their exact street address, or any other really sensitive facts. Something like: "Hi, I'm Bill from northwest oklahoma in the Tulsa area, age 43, married. Have a 1946 Dodge coupe, a 51 Chrysler Zippomobile and a 62 Ford stretch limo. " This program doesn't give you a lot of room to expound. A picture of car or cars would be nice....but I know not everyone is able to post pictures. Whatever location you give, comes up each time a person posts.....that's a nice feature so old people like me can remember where someone lives. Even some of our longer term members could upgrade their stuff a bit. One additional thought......some of the monikers get pretty difficult to decipher, and they kind of get to looking alike to me.......BJ56...48P15.......you get the drift. How about something a bit more user friendly and creative?? Quote
Normspeed Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 Hey, just realized I'm a guru! I do like the car photos in the member list, fun to browse even on dial up, and seeing a location next to someone's name when they post is great. Another thing I like is what Norm's Coupe did, adding a signature to let folks know what his old forum name was. Quote

BobT-47P15 Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 Normspeed.......welcome to "Guru-land". I think Guru, translated in Lower Slobbovian means----person who writes a lot. Last time I told someone I was a guru, they bowed down 3 times while chanting "Salami, Salami, Baloney". :) :D Quote

1just4don Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 here's another tip. I can only remeber a limited amount of names and pw SO I am know on a different board as 'just don'. Then when I registered on another site it wouldnt let me on without number characters,,,hence the 1 and the 4 to make it EASY for this guy to 'member. I just carried it over here so its the same. My name came from getting used to it that way,,,I would go someplace or arrive somewhere and always got the same response ,,oh it is 'just don'. And thats how I came to BE!!! Quote

Young Ed Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Don I think you should arrange to be up here the 23rd/24th of june. Its the w/e after Tulsa. Back to the 50s car show. Last I heard it was the second largest car show in the country. Quote

Last I heard it was the second largest car show in the country. If Don or anyone else wants to attend a real nice large car show, this is it. I've been to the nationals in both Louisville, KY and Columbus, OH. However, the Back to the 50's show is the best of all 3 in my opinion. Quote
Young Ed Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 I've already sent in my registration. Only 25 bucks for the car and 2 people if you send it in before the end of April. There's a small sampling of the cars from 05 and 06. Sadly the 06 album is small because I was in a wedding and missed a large amount of the show. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v172/dodgepu1946/back%20to%20the%2050s%202005/ http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v172/dodgepu1946/back%20to%20the%2050s%202006/ Quote
