mjrobinson62 Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 :DFirst let me say it is not perfect but I am thrilled with the outcome. Color is GM Wheatland Yellow. Was trying to use the Ford Velencia Yellow (on 97 to 99 Mustangs) But I found it way to transparent. This was close enough and much more rookie friendly. Paint is Base/Clear shot in a wood shed. Inspite of the non professional setting, paint is very good although I did get one bug in the last clear coat and a little orange peel in one spot. Both should be able to be removed with a little wet sanding. I am disapointed in my block sanding on the rocker panels. This color really shows every detail. Pictures are right after backing it out of the "booth". Really brightend my day! Quote
55 Fargo Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 That looks real nice, like the shaved look, very cool color....Fred Quote
randroid Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 mj, I generally prefer more sumdued colors but I'm with Fred on this; it looks very cool. -Randy Quote

woodie49 Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 Nice looking Car. I like the color too. You say you are a rookie at painting, but the results look nice. Is this your first attempt at painting? Good Job! Quote
Normspeed Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 Looks great. I liked it in primer too. Quote
Olddaddy Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 seeing your car finished and painted makes me hopeful for the first time since I took mine apart three years ago............yes three long years ago. I have a homemade spray booth set up under my carport. If I live long enough I will paint the car and maybe even put her back together. Many compliments to you, job very well done! Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 It kinda reminds me of the old '69 Roadrunner color Vitamin C Quote
Don Jordan Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 I never quite appreciated the talent and skill required to paint until I tried to do it myself. I have never sanded and painted and sanded and painted so much in my life. It never looked right - I just didn't have the patience, skill, or environment to do it right. Finally I gave up and gave it to the pros. Great decision. Your job came out very good - you must be proud. Quote
Jims50chrysler Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 You did a great job....the only reason you see the imperfections is you have been staring at it too long, been there done that. it is amazing the work that can be turned out from a non professional setting...there is a guy near here that paints cars for the stars his name is Harry Sherry (sp) I don't know if he still has it or not but he had clay brought in for his shop floor the idea is to eliminate dust. I just wet my floor down with water. Jim Quote
