steveplym Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 Well I got the car all back together this week after the air compressor mishap. I had Monday off and got the left rear door and fender sanded and buffed. Put it back together and the trim clips broke on the door trim. Stopped and ordered a few new ones, got them yesterday and put it back together. Went for a drive, it was about 85 and sunny. Really comfortable to drive the car. It felt great to be back on the road with it after over a month with it unroadworthy. I planned on driving it down to a car show this morning, but woke up to rain showers and thunderstorms. The temperature isn't bad, but it has been raining all day. Hope it stops this evening for at least a chance to cook out some pork chops and down a few beers. Happy 4th to everyone. BobT-47P15 Posted July 5, 2009 Report Posted July 5, 2009 Here in southwest MO, it rained lightly for a while late this morning. Then it was dry, but overcast. Now, at 9:30 to 10:00 pm it has begun thundering and raining again. I noticed that the sound of fireworks stopped rather quickly with the advent of the rain. They may have gotten the civic fireworks display in before the rain. The good news is, it was nice yesterday, and we went riding in the car. Last night, about 11 pm, we went out for a drive. Went down Main St in the downtown area where the kids cruise and hang out. Got several kind remarks - and I would imagine most who gave a compliment had no real idea what the car was. As we were stopped for a light, there was a Ford Explorer on our left with 3 young fellows in it. The driver commented on the car, and as we began to move he said "If anybody hits your car, let me know and I'll kick their butt". That was kind of a supreme compliment, we thought. Then it was on to the Sonic for a cherry limeade, and back home. Quote

Steve, I can relate, weather is been okay here, but this summer is much cooler than usual, mid 70s all the past week, and mid to upper 70s for the next 5 days, and sunny. Usually it will be mid 80s and hotter here in July, once ina while up to mid 90s, so this is a cooler summer, great for old car drivin. Hope all is going well in you neck of the woods..... Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted July 5, 2009 Report Posted July 5, 2009 Well, it was 88 and very humid here yesterday.There's a place around the corner from me that has a car show the first Saturday of every month. I took the P-12 out and within minutes the sky got super ugly.There was like 30 cars there. I turned the car around and it poured as soon as I got back to the house. That was about 5 pm. It quit raining around 8:15 and the streets dried up quick. I took the car back to the show and there was one car left there. They probably waited it out until the streets were dry enough to drive them home. It figures. Quote
1940plymouth Posted July 5, 2009 Report Posted July 5, 2009 I had my Plymouth registered for a car show yesterday, but the weather looked iffy, so we didn't take it, although my wife and I did go there for a few minutes. It never did rain yesterday, so my wife, our dog and I did put about 20 miles on the Plymouth in the afternoon. In fact Cooper and I just got back from going for another 20 mile ride in the Plymouth this morning. During the month of June here in the Catskills we had 21 out of 30 days with rain, then the first three days of this month we had rain, so with no rain yesterday and by the looks of things right now, no rain today, so we are all counting our plessings. It has been so wet here that the farmers have had one heck of a time getting their crops planted and haying started. Cooper and I drove by one hayfield this morning that was mowed awhile ago and the windrows are brown, so that hay won't be good for anything other than bedding. Just had to share my thoughts, Bob Quote
