I am having trouble locating a water pump for a 1-1/2 ton truck. Do ya'll have any ides / sources I could try. Roberts doesn't have them, only for 1/2 - 1 ton.

Thanks,

Brad

The ton and a half should have the 25" block 236 CID engine. Try looking for a water pump for a Desoto or Chrysler of the same vintage. Napaonline lists a TFW 42554 water pump for a '49 Chrysler Windsor with the 251 CI engine. I believe this would fit.

Thanks for the lead Merle but TFW 42554 is not the same as mine. See picture I took last weekend. I guess the good news is that it still works and seems tight. I'll just throw a coat of paint on it and pretend it's new. The guy at Roberts says he doesn't think these are made anymore, because he can't get them. I am still searching the web.

When I Google " water pump rebuilding " , I get Hemmings Motor News , Services Offered . That brings me to " Arthur Gould Rebuilders " 631-269-0093 with a 1 year guarantee . There are several others listed too .

Arthur Gould has been in business for a while and is well spoken of on the AACA forum. I had a pump rebuilt by him about 8 years ago that is still working well (no noise, no leaks).

Merle;

The pumps for long and short blocks are the same. There is a difference in the back plate for internal and external by-pass systems.

This is the correct Style pump for your 1-1/2 ton dodge truck. These are pic's of the only extra I have I'm saving for a 2-1/2 ton property truck I use around my place. It's a NOS Mopar pump.This is a hard to find pump!

The New MoPar complete pump package part # is 1064925

MoPar Rebuild kit #1064921

Interesting that it has two grease fittings. I guess one for each bearing.

Sounds like Bradley S is in the same position I am: Replacement water pumps are not easily found (1933 and 1934 are different than later because the 1933/34 blocks do not have water distribution tubes). So I have two pumps. One is in the car. The other has been rebuilt and is sitting on the shelf. If/when the one on the car fails it gets swapped with the one on the shelf. Then the failed pump gets rebuilt and put on the shelf.

It sounds like the one in Bradley S's truck is working alright for the moment. So leave it in and start looking for either a pump or a rebuildable core...

That's it alright. Thanks for the part numbers. I can use that. Guess I will continue looking for a backup to my current, still functioning water pump. Thanks to all for the great information.
