I finally got around to looking at the RockAuto newsletter this morning and one article said they now have patch panels made by 'Classic 2 Current'.

I went to their site, punched-in 1952 Plymouth (my car), and under 'Body-Exterior' found that they have reasonably-priced floor and rocker panels.

The driver's side floor panel, with the cut-out for the master cylinder cover, is listed at $68.00, and the picture looks pretty good.

Might be worth a look for what you need.

Shel,

I Googled the manufacturer and they are based in Michigan; their website prices are a few dollars more than RockAuto charges.

I put one floor panel for a '51 Coronet in the shopping cart and got a shipping charge of $145.24 to my zip in New Jersey! Sure makes me question RockAuto's stated philosophy of not viewing S&H as a profit center.

Perhaps you could cajole a Michigan member to pick it up FOB at their place and then put it on a bus for you. That should save quite a bit of greenstuff.

Local pickup is a good idea if they allow it.

Just for fun, I put a '51 Chevy floorpan into my cart...the shipping was just as absurd.

I got all excited when I saw the prices for those panels. My '51 business coupe can use all of them and more, and I thought this would be an easy way out. The outrageous shipping cost really burst my bubble.

The problem or mistake on their part is they have this set up to go truck freight, floor pans and rockers are not that big, they should be ups or fedex and cost would be lower.

I bought floor pans from the ebay seller last year. They look just like the ones Rock Auto is offering now. So I went to the Current to Classic web site and sure enough that is the people I got mine from.

First let me say that for the money, I'm happy with what I got. And when I inquired about an access panel, they didn't have one but told me if I sent my rusted one to them they could build it for me for free. The access panel you see in the ad is the one I have in my garage now.

These parts are going to require a good bit of rework and fitting before they are ready to weld in, but for the money I feel they are worth the effort.

If you are building a car for the concourse show don't get this stuff. If your car is a driver this stuff is perfect.

Now take this with a grain of salt, These guys at Current to Classic are hard to deal with, at least that was my ebay experiance with them. It took two months to get the floor pans, they don't answer email, and it is extremly hard to get them on the phone, you get an answer machine and they don't return calls.

In fairness to them, maybe the are real busy and understaffed, I don't know,

and they did cut me a good deal when I finally got ahold of them and complained about the slow shipping.

All that said, I would buy from them again but probably not from ebay.

I started cutting the floor out of my car yesterday, I'll let ya'll know how it all works out.

Its a shame the shipping is so much for these. If they could put 4-5 peices in 1 box and ship it for $40-50 I'd consider buying. For the prices these would end up I'll keep up with my current plan to make my own.

Shipping was very reasonable when I got mine fron the manufacturer. They packaged it all in a couple of boxes and shipped it UPS, but like I said they are kind of hard to deal with.
