Hey, we have been posting some interesting topics about some rare and interesting items. How about you guys posting some of your rare or interesting automotive related items. (Photos too guys.) I know David Maxwell must have enough things to keep us all going for weeks. Anyway, it would be fun seeing some of the wacky and wierd things people made for our vintage motor cars. I don't have anything that I can think of at the moment but if I run across something on the web I will share it.

How about this kinda wierd truck. It is evidently something that was used in area mines. Not sure but it may run on electricity. Now used as an attention getter for a paintball range.

I don't have a picture but I've got a collection of trinkets found in cars over the years. A few old coins from the 20s and 30s and a plastic toy airplane I found in the glove box of this car. When my p15 is done and has a glove box I plan to put it in mine.

When I cleaned up under the back seat of my 37 I found a 1937 dime in mint condition. Strange . . .

I found a Spanish 10 Centinomouis (spelling) from the 1800's in my coupe. Gave it to my Step Son though because he collects coins. Thought that was strange because my coupe has never been out of Wisconsin. Also a St. Christopher metal from the 30's or 40's was on the door panel. Also picked up this neat old Bench Dwell Meter with tune up spec's for all cars before 1960. Works off an AA size battery.

Love the pictures of the old cars. Guessing they are by make a Plymouth, Chev, Plymouth, and Pontiac (58). Know the Pontiac because my first car was a 58 Pontiac.

Robert is that about my junkyard photo? If so its 3 plymouths 37 46-48 and then I believe that one was a 52.

Yes it is about your picture and yes you are right. How could I miss the 46-48 so badly. I have a 48 D25 Club coupe with the same body as that one. Musta been a brain fart. I figured the others right but thought maybe a 38 but looking closer I can see it is a 37. Guessed the other as a 51-52 but was absolutely positive on the Pontiac although mine was a plain jane 4 door. Sure did love that car. Bought it when I was 18 in 1967 so 40 years ago. Where the hell does the time go?

That junkyard is so full of neat cars but they are paranoid the EPA is out to get them so no pictures allowed. You can see I listened well. I have a few other shots from in there too.

I love junkyards, especially ones filled with old cars like those in the pic. I can wander for hours. Looks like a lot of good parts on those cars still, even body parts. They would make great parts cars or possibly some of them are restorable. Any possibility of more pics seeing that you listened so well?

Hang on a bit. I just discovered photobucket has sub albums now. So I'm sorting them out and adding a bunch of new ones.

I will just let you guys check out my array of extra stuff on my dash. The best item is the automatic cigarette dispenser. I do have a fan that goes up by the steering wheel but it kind of takes up to much room for me. Jon

.....with the what-nots and period items. Found the magnetic dash tray somewhere in my travels in the 70s. The pack of "Twenty Grand" cigarettes was given to me by the owner of a liquor store in the 70s when I was a rep for RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co......is from the 30s or 40s. The matchbook with pinup girl was given out by the K & E Garage, here in Joplin (no longer in existence) in the 40s or 50s.

Got the compass at an estate sale for the aunt of a friend. The hula girl was bought by my wife a few years ago while on a trip to Florida with some girl friends.....from a shop on the old Hwy 98 near Fort Walton Beach.

Visor mirror was a gift from my sister......she found it in a flea market while on a trip to Indiana. Don't recall where I got the Kleenex dispenser and rabbit's foot. Anyway, I like such stuff and have a bunch more.....just not room to display it all.

Jon...yes, that's an easy way to have the speaker play music. Mine came from the Webb City, MO drive-in.....the name of the place is etched on the back. Just attach a small jack to plug it in to the radio, or a car stereo player and you got rock-n-roll to go.

Until you guys posted pictures of your Drive in speakers I had forgotten about the one I have. Mine looks like BobT's, don't have a picture of it. Also have an old (not reproduction) Car Hop tray. To go with that I found one of each size A & W Root Beer mugs (including Baby one) for the tray. Also a pair of the old glass salt & pepper shakers. No picture of this either and it's packed away. Also have an picnic old cooler on the shelf from the 60's that I bought new in the 60's. And of course the parking meter on the post next to my garage.

Have an original chrome plated AAA Club emblem and a reproduction 40's style State Farm Insurance license plate topper.

Best of all though are my "Fuzzy Dice".

Now those are some interesting add on options that you guys have there. That automatic cigerette lighter. The first time I ever saw one was at the Jay Leno collection. Had never even har of them before. Now they seem to be showing up. Tony C. has one for his car but I don't think he has installed it yet. I am presently bidding on the "Trash Tray" that has magnets to stick on the dash. There sure were some fun items avail. to the owners of those old cars when they were in their prime. Western Auto was a great place to buy them. I do remember the Western Auto stores. Keep them coming. I love seeing them.
