Norm's Coupe Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 OK, here's one for you guys that are into songs of yesteryear. I use to sing this song to keep me awake driving between Chicago an Louisville in the middle of the night back about 1964 & 1965. It was recorded by Elvis. My wife doesn't remember this song and even my first wife thought I made it up back in 1964. But...........this was on the flip side of one of Elvis Presley's all time hits. Problem is I don't know which hit. We had the 45 record in the late 50's and it disappeared somehow. I've even checked with record shops and they don't know either. So.........put your thinking caps on. I'd really like to have this record for old times sake. Thanks. Hounddog Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 I'm pretty sure it was on the Elvis Presley....Plus album as a bonus track. Correct me if I'm wrong Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 I'm pretty sure it was on the Elvis Presley....Plus album as a bonus track. Correct me if I'm wrong I can't correct you if you were wrong. That's the problem. We had it on a 45 RPM in the late 50's. Is that the name of the album you think it's on "Elvis Presley Plus"? Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 Hounddog, Thanks. Guess you are living up to the handle. Just ran a search for that album and found it. The song is there like you said. http://www.grooves-inc.com/presley-elvis-elvis-presley-plus-universe-cd-album-p-1173035.html?language=en¤cy=USD Quote
Hounddog Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 Yea my grandpa was a huge elvis fan and we would go over there all the time and I know I listened to that song on the "Elvis Presley...Plus" album im 99.9 percent certain. Im not sure if they released it on other albums but I know it was on that one. -"I ain't nothing but a hounddog" thats where I got my nickname. Quote
TodFitch Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 Doing a search on iTunes for "We're gonna move" turns up that song. Most of the recordings on the search are by Elvis Presley but there are a couple of other artists that whose recordings are available for it too. The first Elvis recording on the list for it shows the album as "The King of Rock 'N' Roll - The Complete 50's Masters (box set)" but it is also from other albums like "Elvis Presley Portrait" and "Don't Be Cruel". Norm's Coupe Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 Well, thanks to Hounddog and also Ed and Tod I should be able to order it locally. Don't like doing things online if I don't have to. Nice to know it's also on CD now. Otherwise I would have had to burn one off the record. Quote

greg g Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 I remember this one by Rosemary Clooney ( for the young ones here that would be George Clooney's Mom) and I thing Tenesee Ernie Ford and the Statler borhters has a version also: This ole house once knew his children This ole house once knew his wife This ole house was home and comfort As they fought the storms of life This old house once rang with laughter This old house heard many shouts Now he trembles in the darkness When the lightnin' walks about CHORUS: Ain't a-gonna need this house no longer Ain't a-gonna need this house no more Ain't got time to fix the shingles Ain't got time to fix the floor Ain't got time to oil the hinges Nor to mend the windowpane Ain't a-gonna need this house no longer He's a-gettin' ready to meet the saints This ole house is a-gettin' shaky This ole house is a-gettin' old This ole house lets in the rain This ole house lets in the cold On his knees I'm gettin' chilly But he feel no fear nor pain 'Cause he see an angel peekin' Through a broken windowpane CHORUS This ole house is afraid of thunder This ole house is afraid of storms This ole house just groans and trembles When the night wind flings its arms This ole house is gettin' feeble This old house is needin' paint Just like him it's tuckered out But he's a-gettin' ready to meet the saints CHORUS This ole house dog lies a-sleepin' He don't know I'm gonna leave Else he'd wake up by the fireplace And he'd sit there and howl and grieve But my huntin' days are over Ain't gonna hunt the coon no more Gabriel done brought in my chariot When the wind blew down the door Quote
