Fireball Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 Shame on you, let the MoPar gods punish your narrow minded souls! I get the same kicks on both. The day at work is something totally different when I'm able to do the transportation either in my D-24 or on my HD, compared to average winter time when I'm forced to use my daily drivers. If I had to explain, you would not understand. Quote

This is my first bike and I built it myself. came in about a dozen boxes and milkcrates but was most all there. she has a norton front end (forks/drum) and norton rear shocks (a little stiffer) only about 4k miles on her since I built her last year. I absolutly love this machine but may have to part with her to finish my 46' I might cry.... Quote
Young Ed Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 I like the truck in the background. What are your plans for that one? Quote
Flatie46 Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 The customizing is pretty much done, may I introduce my "new" toy?I painted it, lowered, chopped the fenders, changed the lights and dragbar. I like the the new look, Sportster's should have come factory with drag bars they give it a good feel.I like the color too. How about a wideglide front end now with a 21" wheel.I was getting mine ready for summer today, ride safe. Quote
realgonekatt Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 The rusty mistress in the back is no longer in my posession. I sold her in a record 4 hours on craigslist for $600. That allowed me to purchase my current 46' c.coupe. Maybe I should have asked more? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 ah...British Small Arms...I always thought the Rocket-3 would have been a fun bike... Quote

David Maxwell Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 This first pic is Lydia on her Sportster the day I brought it home. This pic is on a ride I took with my brother (he rides a Goldwing) on Christmas day. And this is the Christmas card I made by combining a couple of pics of my wife and I on our Harleys along with the Abominable Snowman from that cheesy animated Christmas special we probably all can remember. I hear you Flatie, I actually have the wide front in garage already, just haven't made up my mind yet with it. I'm also considering black wheels, they might give more rocknroll to this also David M, Lydia has one top notch ride there! Quote
1lowdown Posted March 22, 2009 Report Posted March 22, 2009 I have an 850 Snorton and it is a bear to start, it seems much harder than the 750 I had years ago. Quote
Fireball Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 I sold my sportster on Friday, and bought this Softail from Florida on saturday, am I quick getting rid of money or what. And once again it's a loooooooong wait to get it over here. Should make a nice Christmas present for ME Quote
claybill Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 counter steering....it only works when you are LEANING.! dont try it if your bike isnt designed for the task. all modern bikes are mechanical marvels. they all work well. once you buy a harley you realize you bought more than 'iron on 2 wheels' they are something special, for sure. bill Quote
claybill Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 the counter steering theory...it only works when and because YOU ARE LEANING. dont try it if your bike isnt mechanically inclined to cooperate.! when you buy a harley you get more than iron and rubber!!! bill Quote
FiredomeVorhese Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 I've had many many motorcycles. This is my current project, 62 Bonneville. Gallery http://vorhese.com/gallery/album302 Quote
Fireball Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Nice nice Bobber Firedome. Triumphs are popular in States also? Quote
FiredomeVorhese Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Hey thanks. Brit bikes are extremely popular here. Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 In '72 I bought a new Honda 450 double overhead cam. Some 91 year old lady ran a red light. End of that bike. Over the years I had 2 '81 Kawasaki 650 CSRs. The last 2 I had were a '82 Harley Sportster and a '84 Harley Roadster. The '84 was a stroker. I always gave rice burners a hard time with that one. I sold that bike back in 2004. Tom Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 my bud always like to talk me into letting him ride my 850 Norton and I his Harley (low rider) I pretty much felt like a sitting duck, target if you will due to the inability of the Harley to "perform" on a even less than challenging road course..to each their own...for the straight cruise my dad always said take the Harley, for sport (back in his day) he said give him a BSA.. dad would occasionally still ride one of my bikes till about 72..then he said enough was enough I guess..
