Ouch hope you are at least getting an upgrade out of the mess

Yep!

20 x 24 w/ 16x7 garage door. Slabs been sitting a few weeks waiting to get built on.

Here are a few other Gustav pictures from my yard...

Part of my side Yard with trees still down.

Utility Trailer that can't haul a single piece of wood.

Bobcat that got the stump out of the hole and then fell into the stump hole.

What were you thinking... you cant haul that big of a tree on that trailer. ;):D

Glad to hear things are recovering down there. Gustav was a nasty one. He even dumped a bunch of rain on us up here. Nothing like what you got, but still fairly nasty even this far north.

And I thought Gustav might have been your wife!!!!:D

Nope. Wife is Renee.

Sweet thing told me to "get whatever you want for a shop, but don't spend too much." She's didn't realize that her statement was an oxymoron.

Dan, glad to hear you are recovering. The wife & I were there with the Red Cross for 3 weeks the day after Gustav hit. Gustav never got the press of Katrina, (we were there for her also) or Ivan. It seemed as if the rest of the country just Ho Hummed the whole thing. We fed about 6000 people a day from the kitchen I was working from. I drove an ERV out of Baton Rouge (Florida Ave Baptist Church) as far Northwest? as False River on the other side of the Big Muddy and Eastward to Denham Springs and Mauripaus. There was a lot of devastation from fallen trees and flooding, but somehow the rest of the country just never heard about. Anyway enjoy your new garage, and Geaux Tigers. George

Dan it's good to hear that everything is going good after what I'm sure was a bit of a scare.

George(homebrewer) I am sure a lot of people appreciated what you done. It's people like you and your wife that make both our countries such a wonderful place to live. Thank you, Brendan.

Thanks for your service (for both storms). I live in Denham Springs just south of the I-12 exit. I hope you never have to come again for a storm, but if you do, PM me ahead of time and I'd be glad to put you up here. Since the boys are grown we have plenty of room.

We lost a lot of trees and my workshop, but other than that and the inconvienence of power being out for a week we did just fine. A lot of people were much worse off than we were, and there are some places here where the poverty tends to prevent people from being able to take care of themselves (by having tools like insurance, generators, freezers, excess gasoline). Unlike what the news showed you after Katrina, a large majority of these people appreciate you helping them to help themselves.

Our Fighting Tigers are struggling this year. The offense is killing us. Our offense keeps turning the ball over to the other teams. The QB has personally thrown interceptions to the tune of 49 points (7 times the int run back for TD) for the other teams. He's thrown 15 interceptions in 10 games. You can't win in the SEC when you turn the ball over. They gave up 17 points to Georgia on turnovers and 21 points to Alabama on turnovers. It's hard to win when you're trying to beat yourself. Ole Miss comes to Baton Rouge on Saturday. Should be a good game.

Thanks Brendan.

Hurricanes strong enough to cause any damage normally show up around every 10-13 years. It's quite rare to have major storms hit so close together. I live far enough off of the coast where flooding is not nearly as big an issue as the wind. And yes, it does get scary at some points during the storms. I guess it's a small price that I'm willing to pay to live in such a beautiful part of the country.

That's how we feel about earthquakes! I'm a Nebr fan, we've got some work to do also.

Was at Wake Forest University when Agnus (1975) went through. Still remember the 'hot' never ending rain. Kids just played football and etc. as if it didn't exist.

We're sure missing Bo Pelini down here!
