Hey guys, lookin' for some rear return break springs! I called Andy's and they are out till the first of the year :confused::rolleyes:

So, I called another place, Atlas Obsolete and they are on vacation till the

10th! So, I need rear return springs for my p-15 asap since the car is due for a break job next Friday.

Any help is much appreciated!

If you are just doing the brake job because you went so many miles and the brakes are still working, just put off the shop visit for a couple of weeks. When the new springs come in, order them and you can then reschedule the brake job. Should not be a problem as long as the shoes aren't scraping metal to metal and the cylinders aren't leaking.

I just ordered a set from Roberts.

Funny thing is I just tried to order a steering box rebuild set from Andy and he also told me he wouldn't have them for a month. Where do you suppose he gets this stuff?

NAPA

My NAPA stores can't find anything that is not listed in their computers which is the same as what I can find online. That means if it is '35 Plymouth specific, they can't find it.

I have to try to find parts that are common with later models, then maybe I can find it listed under those models.

Maybe...........but we have to watch China. China quality control is getting a little better on some things as time goes by. I myself have a few things made in China that are ok. Have also had a few things that didn't work so good too.

I think we will see things coming from China like we did from Japan. Years ago in the 50's/60's/70's things made in Japan weren't all that great either, and they were cheap. However, just look no further than Toyota and others products. They've come a long way. We don't hear many complaints about stuff made in Japan anymore. And, when Japanese products got better, prices matched or surpassed prices of US/Canadian made products. Think we'll see the same thing happen with Chinese products over time.

Don't get me wrong. I'd rather buy US too, but..........just looking back at history a bit.

You are somewhat correct. The little umbrellas that they stick in the top of drinks are much higher quality than they used to be. However I have not seen any high quality willow ware for several years.

Jim, O'Reilly Auto Parts (at least here) has some books on the shelf to

look up older stuff not on their computers. They don't have everything

I need, but sometimes will have certain items. And those items may

actually be in their warehouse for delivery the next day.

You may still need to translate your parts to newer model items

with them.

I believe that Restoration Specialties has springs of the correct style/appearance/design for our brakes. Not sure if they have the correct size though. Look at page 35 of their PDF catalog.

Thanks guys, I went with Robert's Motor Parts. They were the same prices as Andy's so, I'll see how they are when they're put on the car.

Again, thank you gents for your help!
