indeed amazing. what makes someone to do that?

John

What makes anyone take up any hobby?

I have a neighbor that has that hobby. They end up making pretty much everything including spark plugs. The fellow I know has become a very impressive machinist but I can't imagine doing much with miniature gas engines unless you are handy with machining parts.

Given how satisfied I was getting my Plymouth engine running where basically is was a "send out the machining, do the assembling" operation, I wonder how it would feel if you actually made the whole thing. And yes, at least in my neighbor's case, the engines actually run.

I'd be happy if I could get my store bought baby RC engines to run. They are .15 and .21CI engines. The .21 I never have gotten to run correctly.

At the British Science Museum in London I saw a display of a collaborative 1/12 scale model of a Supermarine spifire Mark V.

One guy made the airframe the other guy a working RR Merlin engine that he worked up from the original prints.

This was an radio-controlled actual flying model.

Why?...I guess because they can. :)

not wanting to say a negative thing about it, just wondered what makes someone to make it that small?

Having said that , these radio controlled planes also have these small engines in it.

I agree, would give a lot of satisfaction to be able to make something like that. I guess the right tools will help !
