that's right. there is a 5x10 curved heat shield between the exhaust manifold and the fuel line..this is the bottom suppport. most cars have them taken off, or at least never put back on when changing pumps..

Yep,,,,,support for heat shield.

Not sure there was a shield on any of my engines, including the current

one. Bought a nos pump at the Springfield swap meet in August. The

guy said it's Mopar.....I said "oh?"......he said yeah, they had that heat

shield support. So I bought it.....thought $5 was a good enough price.

Well I found a shield Saturday on a Plymouth in the little salvage place

we went to. Indeed it was supported by that shaft. Had a wing nut

on it.

Little do you know, you are all wrong. So wrong. That antenna was developed (joint effort with aliens in Roswell) by GEFCA in late 40's. The purpose is to monitor you don't enjoy riding your Mopar too much with too little taxation. They later devoped formula to add taxes in gasoline prices.

GEFCA = Governmental Excessive Fuel Consumption Association

This guy was the Project Manager, don't tell anybody, but I have met him
