JIPJOBXX Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Not bad for a 10 footer car! But really this award doesn't mean a whole lot to me as I really just enjoy showing and talking to people who love old cars at these shows. Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Way to go, Congrats. Dennis:D Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Nice going. I like that better than any trophy. At least you can hang that on the wall of the family room, shop or garage and enjoy it more. That said, someone must be a little mixed up in their geography. Mel's Diner was a diner on the old TV show Happy Days, with the Fonz. Happy Days used Milwaukee, WI as the TV show location. Plus, Mel's Diner never really existed in Milwaukee, just on the TV show set. How come they used that on that picture if you're in Washington state? On a side note about Happy Days. They just had the old cast (except Richie) including the Fonz here last week to dedicate the new Bronze life sized statue of "The Fonz". Lavern and Shirley were also there. The statue is right in the heart of downtown Milwaukee on the main drag. No tax dollars were used. It was put there by private donations. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 saw that on the tv...Happy Days was ok..but Henry did a much better job in "Night Shift" and Michael Keaton ws the icing on the cake..I don't think Keaton ever got the credit he deserves for the roles he played.. Quote
mackster Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 congrats on the award. the difference is you can tell everyone you have an award winner vehicle. Quote

Any disbelief and I can send a pic. not the same one as in Happy Days, but it is a Mels Diner nonetheless. Bud :D Quote
Normspeed Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Yup, I believe there is also a Mel's Diner in Reseda or that area, in the San Fernando valley. Tim, I thought night shift was one of those great comedies that never got noticed. Michael Keaton and Henry Winkler clicked like the original odd couple. "Note to Bill...." LOL Quote
Captain Neon Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 The restaurant where Arthur Fonzarelli, Ritchie Cunningham, et. al. hung out was called "Arnold's." I believe Mel's Diner was from the TV show Alice. Quote
RobertKB Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 I thought Mel's Diner was from American Grafitti. Quote
Normspeed Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Oh hell. The memory's one of the first things to go... Well, congrats on the nice trophy. Always nice to know your car caught their eye. Well deserved. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 American Graffiti was a good movie..the follow up, More American Graffiti was not so good...got them both on one collection disc... Fletch and Fletch Lives, just released as a two on one on the 17th of this month is being delivered tomorrow... Quote
Mr. Belvedere Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Here's a Mels dinner in Frisco. But I don't think Flo or Vera work there. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Hey, Jon.....congrats. It may not mean much on the one hand, but it would seem to mean that someone thought your car was nice. Testimony to the work you've put into it. Quote
